HELP? Which brake caliper brackets did I get?
Hi,
I recently purchased some brake caliper brackets from another forum member who said these were from a 1995 1.8 miata. Having need to replace my worn out 1.6 brake pads like many of you, I decided to upgrade to the 1.8 brake brackets, rotors, and pads as well as change to SS lines.
I got everything together but finally started the project this past weekend only to find the brackets I received were the incorrect ones (correct me if I'm wrong).
Not only do the sliding bolt holes not line up, but on the bracket I received, both sliding bolt holes are the same in size as opposed to the 1992 where 1 slide is bigger than the other.
Can someone tell me what brackets I received?
1.6 bracket on left shown next to 1.8?? bracket on right. Holes don't line up!
Thank you for any help/insight you all can offer. If I received the incorrect ones I would only hope the seller can offer me a refund/exchange so I can get my car back on the road.

possibly sport brackets? This could be why you need sport calipers when you use sport brackets.
Do they at least bolt up to the hub?
edit: can't seem to find any kind of part number for the sport front brakes, I'd find someone who has them and can verify your number. More than likely that's a useless casting number though, not a part number.

The seller sold me fronts and rears. The rears swap over (bolt up to the hub and the caliper holes line up).
The seller PMed me and said: "I sent you 1.8 brake brackets. i dont have sport edition brackets. the brackets i sent you came off of a 95 miata..."
So they're not sport edition brackets according to him...

Well remember that you need to swap left to right and right to left for the 1.8 conversion. although that doesn't solve the problem of the calipers not fitting. Your 1.6 calipers can slide into 1.8 brackets without issue.
Do you have pictures of anything else? Your calipers? Your rotor dimension? Any rotors the seller sent you?

I know that I need to swap L with R and vice versa but yea, like you said holes don't line up. I simply bought the brake brackets F&R. i bought rotors/pads separately.
The bracket holes that bold to the hub are the same (thus it will bolt to the hub) but where the calipers bolt to the bracket itself do not line up as you can see in the picture.
Hopefully the seller gets back to me soon...kinda sucks having the Miata not running in this nice California weather

There's little chance you have anything but sport brackets. If they're the exact same as your existing brackets they're 1.6. If they're slightly larger but your 1.6 calipers bolt up, they're 1.8 brackets.
If they came off a miata, bolt up to the hub, but don't seem to fit 1.6 or 1.8 brackets (dimensionally the same), then they're sport brackets.
The seller could easily of had sport brakes on his '95 without knowing. See if he still has the rotors and can measure the circumference, diameter, or radius.

Thanks for the input. Contacted the seller again..hopefully he'll be able to measure or be willing to refund the money.
Any other insight from anyone? I'd appreciate the help...or if you have the 1.8 brackets and willing to trade
