Default Is the R&P swap the same in LSD and non LSD diffs?

Searching just talks about the swapping of the ring and pinion. But doesn't really specify if it's the same for a LSD verses a non LSD. My 3.63 out of a 626 just arrived and I was trying to do a little more research before starting the job. From what I could find so far it looks like the procedure is no different wether it's LSD or not. Just trying to clarify before I go forward. Thanks.

I have a 88 RX7 diff (LSD)& a 1.8 R&P (off an OPEN diff).

The 1.8 ring bolted to the RX7 diff just fine. And matched up with the pinion.

I'd be willing to bet your 626 R&P will work with your diff just fine.

This is correct. The LSD unit is a completely self-contained assembly which is no different externally from an open differential.

Thanks Guys.
Joe, past searches reveals you bought one too. Did you do the swap yourself or have it done? The sticky on the shop manual has pretty crappy pictures on this subject. Maybe some of the other forums has better how-to's on this.
Does Mazda make a seal kit for this job or is all a-la-cart?
Cheers,

m.net garage section has a diff R&R guide with pics showing how to measure backlash and other tolerances. Tools that you need but aren't in everybody's home garage include a dial indicator and a 7-8" (IIRC) outside micrometer. Never done it myself but it doesn't look too complicated.

Thanks, I found the thread.

I think I've got a dial indicator that will work, but the 7"-8" micrometer is another story. That's pretty huge. Once I solve the micrometer problem, it's just a matter of motivation. (That stuff is getting to find too.......)

I have the micrometer if you need to borrow it.
