Default Torsen T2 or OBX ?

Hi all,

I bought an complete rear differential with "open" diff from the breakers. They didn't had any LSD's to sell.
So I bought an OBX LSD and bolt / spacer kit.
Today I took the differential and opened it up. I allmost took the diff out and then I noticed it is not an open diff.... It is in fact a Torsen T-2.

Now what to do ? Put the OBX in ? Or sell the OBX and go ahead with the T2 ?

Thanks for the advice !

Put the used one back together as-is and enjoy. Sell OBX.

Thanks. I was opting for the same idea. I will re-set the backlash and preload as dicribed on m.net.
I will put the OBX together with the new rings and bolts, so I might make someone happy with it.

Read our thread, OBX is a good cheap option, quite a few users without failures once the bolts and spacers are replaced. Search for the thread and read up.

I'd still rather have the Torsen unmolested. Buy an open, fit the OBX properly then sell here!

Cheap company that makes cheap ****. For instance we wouldn't suggest buying their turbo "kits". Basically a ebay turbo kit that happens to have a brand name.

Their diff however, works great after you replace some shitty hardware and flatten the mounting surfaces. In the end it's still cheaper than finding a torsen.

OBX makes me LOL, cause everytime I see an OBX sticker on a car around here, or a front license plate that reads "OBX", I'm like...wow, they have cheap junk on their car. Then I realize that they don't, they just really like vacationing in Outer Banks, NC.

Isn't the OBX considered a stronger alternative (obviously with real washers and bolts) to the torsen for cars hitting 300hp and beyond?

it's only as strong as the hexi-coil gears. Have the limits of the OBX been tested on the drag strip with drag-radials like the torsen?

How do they compare in how they lock. I think the torsen is a gear driven limited slip that needs some force on the spinning wheel to lock the other wheel is obx same? or is it posi type with clutches?
