Default Opinions on wheel set up?

I finally moved on from the low and slow stance game to the go fast game. Currently I have 16x9 varrsteon v3 wheels (18lbs) with 205/40s. I want a new set up that will handle the power (270ish) better but I can't decide what I want to do. I have read a lot about the subject of unsprung weight but there are so many factors that is confuses me. My suspension is BC BR coil overs which are on the stuff side. My car is my daily driver but I do a lot of spirited driving on straights but more so corners. I want a good over all set up that will still look good (subjective), grip well in the corners, and not be spin city from low rolls.

My options would be to grab some 225/45s and throw them on my current wheels (look good but on the heavy side). I love my wheels, but if they hurt my performance heavily compared to lighter 15x9s then they have to go.

Next is to pick up the 15x9 6ULs (12.8lbs) and get 225/45s for those.

Or trade my roommate my wheels for his 15x7 motegi traklite 2.0s (9.9lbs and forged). He swears he never had traction problems when he had my motor/turbo set up with those wheels but 205 seems small.

Also, If you're also in the upper 200s range for power with a stiff suspension, what are you running for wheel and tire set up? If you have any other options that are cost efficient please list them!

Grip is way more focused around compound than sheer width.
5lb per corner of unsprung weight is a big deal.
You can get 15x9 6Uls with your choice of sticky 225/45/15 tires which would be a big improvement. Or go 15x8 and 205/50. Or those super light 15x7's with sticky 205/50's

All those options would be a lot better. i would not keep your stupid hellaswag boat anchor wheels though, that's for sure

If you had those options what would you choose? Also pondered the thought of the 14x7 rpf1 with the 205/55 nt555 but read mixed reviews about the sidewall for cornering.

I'm not a track guy so my opinion isn't important, however I am currently using Konig Flat Out 15x8 +25 with 205/50 tires and love them. They're only 11.9-12.2 Though if I could find a deal on some uber light 15x7's I'd probably get that no problem

Width is more important than weight.

How to choose performance wheels for any car:

1. Choose the optimum compound for your usage
2. Choose the optimum size in that compound
3. Choose the optimum wheel width for that size. Equal to or slightly wider than the tread.
4. Choose the strongest and lightest wheel in that optimum size, that you can afford.

Many Miatas owners start with #4 and wonder why they have such a hard time choosing tires.
