My vote is for the Sportmaxx...I've always loved those wheels...and the design works with the deeper dish and flares.

bad information. it should have read: "especially with 35" tall tires"
1. the larger offroad tires are not made to the same exacting standards as high perf. or racing tires
2. the steel wheels your speaking of (for trucks and 4x4's) are not made to the same standards as peformance wheels.
3. if someone put 1lb of wheel weights on a wheel, they should be fired!
before you tell me i'm stupid, i have 10yrs. experience mounting,balancing,installing, and selling wheels & tires. i've been to countless meetings and training seminars with all of the top tire and wheel manufacturers in the buiseness. since 1993 i've literally had over 100 wheel and tire combo's on my performance vehicles.

did you miss the part about junk steel truck wheels? if you swapped to quality steel wheels you would see the same improvement as the aluminum. ironically, the better quality steel wheels are factory ones. they are usually more "true" (round) and are made of thicker steel than cheap aftermarket ones, but they aren't wide or shiny so off they go. i have diamond racing steel wheels and have raced on them at over 130mph. no vibrations, no more than 1.25 oz. of wheel weights per wheel.

Thus far I am still stuck on the 16x9.5 Spinwerks since it’s slim pickins for tires to fit the 15x10’s and 16x10’s might be pushing my luck…Figured I’d list off some tire prospects that I have found thus far for anyone interested as well as for me to revert back to when I actually go to buy….Most of these tires are rated for a 8.5”-9” rim, but I’m sure they could be mounted on 9.5” rim….Obviously some of these tires have MUCH more potential than others, but I wanted to see as many options as possible. ight i have already mentioned this before but im still trying to figure this out!

hokay! right now im currently running 16x8 with 0 offset and for tires im running 205/45s. and im having scrubbing issues when i make really sharp turns, it scrubs where the support bar runs from the inner body of the car and where it attaches to the corner of the front bumper and fender! i have already cut away at that area and it has helped minimize the scrubbing!

the left of the pic is the front, just in case anybody asks!





the direction of the red arrow shows the direction im turning the wheels, the red line vertically that i added reps where my tires scrub!


now this thread speaks of running wider wheels, and in the very first post it says that the black car (first pic in the thread) is running 16x9 0 offset. now with wider wheels the contact surface gets moved forward due to the extra 1/2 in of width on each side of the wheel from the center. that's what the 2 lines going horizontally across the top and bottom of the tire in the pic above signify!

im wanting to get a set of the replica flares for my car and i want to go with the same sized wheel and offset as the black car in the first post, but im already scrubbing and if i go that route i will scrub more!

anybody understand what im saying? what am i missing? anybody have any pics of install of the N2 flares...to show all of the modification to properly install them and be able to turn without scrubbing?

personally I think a 245/50/16 would be way too tall overall. Thats almost 3" taller than a stock tire setup. Unless you plan on going around like a jeep I think that wouldnt look to good.

245/45/16 is 2" taller, 245/35/16 is .1 inch taller.

245/35/16 is your only choice from what you listed, and that t1r is a great street tire.
if you need something sticky for the track - look into 225/50/16. you should be able to find all sorts of track tires in that size. don't forget 225 on a 9'' wheel is THE setup in 15", so don't be scared to look into those sizes for track tires.

Tireeasy has a deal on that exact size for the Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31 shown above.

$39 for 215/40ZR16s can't be beat.

I got mine mounted today...and they look badass. Fit wheel well amazingly, and will see if they rub next time I take it out.

The 265/45-16 Kumho XSs would be ignorant sticky. They're ~1.5" taller than stock, but I think you can get away with that with cutting away absolutely everything under the flares (and properly filling in all the missing sheetmetal in the quarters, of course).

It seems a little stupid (a whole lot stupid, actually) to spend a bajillion dollars on Tuckin99 flares and then put lame/ hard/ skinny rubber on lame/ heavy/ ugly wheels under them. A couple of carefully chosen sets of used BBS RSs, or one used set and a few new outer barrels will get you exactly what you need, remain baller, and won't break the bank. Call RBwheels and see if they can help you out...

the shitty part is i already have brandnew tires on my car, and im currently broke! hopefully the job im after right now ill get! im more than quallified for it!

It looks like you can clear pretty much any logical tire with these flares with the amount of cutting you can do under them......its all in what you want to set your car up for. I agree that its stupid to have these flares and run some 15x8 -30et wheels which is why I am definitly shooting for a 9" to 10" wide wheel with near 0 et...I too think a 50 series tire would look obnoxious on a miata so it appears that the 45 and 35 series tires are where its at...

Did I mention I CANNOT WAIT TO GET MY FLARES, Spoolin2bars is the man!!
