NA 1.6 install
I've de-Linked my wiring and have started to install my Adaptronic. I'm using the PnP harness from Boundry.
With my harness there is a small circuit board with a bunch of pins and the three spots for the wiring to the MAP sensor. Problem is I can't imagine what the hell this is for. I thought that maybe the MAF connector would plug into this, but alas there aren't enough pins. So what the fucks is it for? I want bring back MAP, AIT and EBC to the harness directly, anyone know off hand which locations on the harness I should use? Anyone have any tips for this install? |
If you download the documentation ZIP file it has a one page PDF with the wiring pinouts on it.
|
Is pin location labeled MAT (A7) where the AIT is wired to? I assume that it is. If not I can't see on the diagram where it should go.
EBC Goes to EGO which is A6? |
Correct MAT = AIT on A7.
EBC (electronic Boost Control)? If so it needs to be a high current output either 1,2,3 on J2. |
It needs to be high current if just running the solenoid?
I think I wait until I'm actually up and running before messing around with that. Thanks for the verification! |
In for 50rwhp gain over LINK. ;)
|
Adaptronic is installed. Still going through and verifying that it is hooked up correctly. I've flashed firmware, and loaded the base map. In the gauges screen I can see sensors are working.
Now I have to go through the idle setup and see if I can get the beast to run! This ECU is going to take a lot of learning compared to the link! Hope it is worth it. :) |
Everything seems to be there, but TPS doesn't seem to register. Further investigation is needed.
|
Which TPS are you using?
|
I have both both a regular on/off and a vtps. I haven't really tried the vtps yet. I should expect to see something in the Gauges window under TPS correct?
Right now the car fires and idles ok for about 10sec. Will immediately stall if I touch the gas. I still have to hook up my AEM WB, to see if I'm going crazy lean just before it stalls. Also going to verify the wiring from the TPS to the adaptronic. I'm wired for sequential (left it that way from the link) and changed the settings to reflect sequential injection. Started working through the idle runing, but can't really get too far until the car will atleast idle. Thanks for the help. |
Is there anything I need to do when I fit the vtps?
|
The on/off type gets connected to a digital input, so you will only see the state of that input change. Once you connect the vtps to the tps input you will see the % change with throttle position.
|
Ok, TPS was a red herring. When it is the stock on/off variety there will be no reading on TPS. Dig 7/8 act as closed/open throttle. So it is working fine.
I've confirmed that it is going to lean to idle. I'm using RC550cc injectors, I think the map that was supplied are 600cc injectors. Also MAP setting. I see a drop down for Other/1bar/3bar. How should I have it set up? I'm using the sensor that came from Boundry. I'll try and confirm that it actually is. No when I go to variable TPS I will have to supply 5V, then use the stock wiring except moving 2L to A10 instead of A1. Jay |
Ok I got it. Fuel pump is not running. I didn't cut the end off the MAF connector, I ran my lines directly to the MAP sensor. Obviously this is where the issue is. If I want to avoid modifying the MAF harness, what wiring mods do I need to do for the FP?
I can get it to idle nicely if I jump F/P and GND in the diagnostic connector. Jay |
I suspect this is a left over from my link ground wire modifications that I didn't undo. When I cut the ground wire at the back of the head (blk/lg) it kills ALL my sensors. I will have to figure out exactly what happened.
My AIT is nice and stable, but I see that my water temp is a little noisy. |
Are you talking about cutting the wire on the back of the intake manifold that I posted pictures of? That was the wire that caused the noise on my water temp sensor. The injector current was being grounded through it causing the noise.
|
I'm quite certain that is the wire. I was getting noise on the Water temp, but not on the AIT. Cut that wire and no more readings out of any of the sensors, car would no longer run. Other odd bit was the displayed voltage showed about 16V with the wire cut.
AIT grounds to the side of the TPS. I was thinking of running the ground from the WT sensor to the same spot. Which sensor does the adaptronic read? I assume the one on the back of the head. The vtps I have is out of an automatic I believe. Any thoughts on my fuel pump wiring issue? |
You need to undo the Link ground wire mods. I ended up running an extra power ground to the back of the head as well.
The 2-wire sensor on the back of the head is the water temp for the ecu. You can either just jumper the fuel pump like you have. I think some of the MS guys run this way. I ran a wire from the ecu to the yellow connector near the steering column, the shown here and tapped into the light green wire. |
Guess I'll be putting my grounds back to stock. Why did you run an additional ground?
For the FP I need to tap into the light green wire to the connector under the dash and then run that back to aux out 5 (B16 red/black). Are you using the automatic vtps? |
I ran an additional ground before I figured out that the wire on the intake needed cut. It cant hurt it just parallels the factory ground.
Correct. I'm using a Wells TPS201. It was cheaper than an auto one at the time. It doesn't have the additional closed throttle switch. I want to switch to something that has vtps + closed throttle. |
