I changed both triggers from falling to rising. Not sure if I needed to change trigger 2 but I did anyway. After looking at the scope traces on that thread above I can see why rising peak is a good idea. The crank sensor falling edge is WAY off on the cranking traces. If there is something other than cranking that causes it to happen, like maybe just low RPM, then I can see why it would cause a problem like we are having.
Yep 1.9A and unchecked peak-and-hold. I think that is still a good idea. I'm going to try driving the car to work tomorrow to see how it goes. EDIT: After reading that thread more, it looks like Jason_S is using rising edge for the crank sensor and falling edge for the cam sensor. |
FWIW, I did a cold start to work on my idle tuning for lower temps. I did change to rising on Trigger 1.
All was well and idle and trim working fine. Trim responding to fluctuations in AFR and RPM. After hitting 104* I shut it off for two, maybe three minutes. Restarted and idle and AFRs were all over the place and fuel trim again pegged at 3%. No movement whatsoever. It can't be a heatsoak issue in that short amount of time. Literally 2-3 minutes. Travis, I may have to take you up on a replacement unit unless you find out something from Rob on the flatlined trim issue. I think it is my only issue now. |
Hey Stein,
Sounds good, could you give it one more reflash for me just to make sure. If you've already reflashed recently I'll get you a box in the mail tomorrow. |
Here's some more trigger info on the 2001 regarding why he uses rising edge on the cam (for the VVT car at least). it may not matter for the earlier NB.

Stein try setting both triggers to rising edge. That is how I am running mine.
BTW last night I checked the base timing and it is fine. I locked the ignition at 10 deg BTDC and checked the crank position with a timing light. I think I had to advance it maybe 2 degrees. You know, even though it runs, I am still not sure how the cam sensor gets the phasing right. I did RTFM. The ignition is wasted spark of course so it really does not matter for that. But for the sequential injection, if it is out of phase, the injectors would be firing into the back of a closed valve (power stroke) instead of an open one (intake stroke). It will still run, but it is not optimal. |

Dang... OK I plan to keep driving the car so I'll let you know if I have any problems.

Hoping the reflash might help. |
After some more driving the problem seems to be completely gone. It also seems to be running better generally speaking. Smoother acceleration, better idling.

Consider it a temporary fix |
Well, I reflashed with Version N firmware, reloaded my last map, fired it up and it ran fine until I shut it off. Left it for three minutes. Restarted and trim was frozen at 3% again. Wouldn't idle. Richened up idle so it will at least idle hot and called it good for today. It will be pig rich tomorrow AM but it's better than restarting at every stop sign and stoplight. Nothing will unfreeze it except a full cool down or at least driving 20 minutes on the highway. At least I have seen it start working 15-20 minutes later.
Travis, I'm willing to try another unit. |

Consider it a temporary fix The car is still running well. I am now ready to hit the dyno. |
Congrats on not acutally fixing it!

I'm waiting to be able to say the same about yours Stein. You're always ready to help others. You deserve to "not fix it" ;) |
OK so after two drives to and from work, and one of them a drive home in stop-and-go traffic in 95F+ degree temps, it is still not fixed ;)
So I am going to give it the real test now... here we go... I AM DECLARING VICTORY! Hopefully my declaration of victory turns out better than this one: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vX_mUMA9UX...complished.jpg |
LOL thats halirious man. Grats on getting fixed, and thanks to everyone for doing the leg work so that new users will benifit. I'll build this into the new tuning files.
Stein, I've got someone running down to the post with a shiny new adaptronic box. I agree on Stein deserving to have it fixed. He's definitely a team player on this forum. |

Now I wait for Stein. |

Still have yet to install mine cuz was in the hospital for a sick uncle-in-law till early this AM. Anyhow, killer work yall and glad it is going well. Maybe one of you could post your maps or has Travis updated his server with the maps? I'd like to give this a whack tonight. Thanks and kudos! Matt |
