The 183 is the wing I am using now. I will see how it goes on Sunday now that the front might keep up.

I misread a post on your thread as you starting a new wing, it was someone else said that. If you have access to McBeath's profiles, the 132 would be the better profile than that one if you do start a new wing. If you don't, the S1223 would be my pick but I would be interested in any other suggestions from other people.
COT would be another option, but unless you buy one, as far as I can see nobody really knows what profile it is, there are a few guesses but nothing definitive. |

I started the day with the wing at zero degrees, and kept increasing AOA until the rear edge of the wing was slightly above the end plates. After that, I drilled new holes in the front to lower the front edge to increase the angle to 12 degrees. Top speed dropped about 3mph. But it set its fastest lap time of 1:43.8. Equal lap time to many big dollar V8 race cars.
The pics are from the morning at zero degrees angle. The front springs are more compressed than the rears, so the front splitter/undertray is working very well. Last lap in the last session - the front splitter mounts let go. The bolt heads ground away underneath causing the right side to be unsupported, then the middle alloy tube snapped at where I bent it (weak point) from the extra weight on it. Good to see the addition in the front prove itself for you. I hate trimming out rear downforce just because there isn't enough in the front to capitalize on it. That 3 mph loss at the top is verrrrry worth it. Make stronger mounts, continue winning.

I just did some research. I am pretty sure I have recorded the fastest ever lap of Phillip Island in an MX5 (Miata) of any configuration. Let's see if I can go faster on Saturday. :)

I am surprised that you only lost so little top speed. What was your baseline, and was that at max AoA? Are you planning on changing the front springs, or otherwise stiffening the front end, to reduce the rubbing? Maybe just a rubbing block in front of that attachment if time is short? |
Lukey is fun, it still has the ass hanging out if I push it a bit too far. It's fun. I haven't seen the video myself yet. I must get onto that. I hope the video looks as exciting as it feels from the drivers seat.

And if anything it should have kept the same speed, as the tail wind would have canceled out the extra drag. Spent a bit of time today making camera mounts under the car, and some measuring devices. So come Saturday we should have a lot of info. |

It is the best track. Very fast and flowing. I don't like going to other tracks after going to Phillip island. You don't get the same feeling of speed anywhere else. Top speed is 140mph, T1 minimum is 120mph. Cars like Skylines, etc with bigger HP are up around 160-170mph top speed.

Has anyone found a good source of the HDPE Plastic Roll in the UK?
Shipping from Speedway is about $99 making it a bloody expensive way to do it! I have tried eBay, amazon, all the usual sources, but it just doesn't seem to exist over here (or I am a moron, one of the two)/ Thanks Anton |

Hood vents and canards/spats

As for the canards/spats, I bought a cheap mold (auction site) and made them out of frp (white gelcoat) then painted them body colour. |

Thanks for that! For some reason I didnt think to check Demon Tweeks! Its listed as 2MM where as the Speedway stuff is listed as .11" which works out at 2.7MM. Will 2MM be strong/thick enough for use as an airdam? Thanks Anton |
2mm =.080", a bit too thin for an airdam. Next size is .118" IIRC which works out to about 2.8mm

I thought as much. I guess I will keep hunting. Bizzare that something so readily available in the states, just doesn't seem to exist over here. I have even called a bunch of plastics suppliers and while they do HDPE sheeting, they dont have any flexible enough to be rolled. Thanks Anton |

Polyethylene Sheet HDPE 2mm-3mm-4mm-5mm-6mm-8mm thick Even if they don't normally shop in rolls you can probably ask them to roll it up for shipping. The 2mm roll I have would probably work as a airdam with suitable support (it's not flimsy by any means), but a thicker one would be sturdier of course (and give a smoother look). It's working well for generic patchworks though :) |
