New manifold

Here's a new manifold design I've been working on.

Started out with this collector:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/DSCF5977.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/DSCF5978.jpg

Then made my voodoo/franken from it:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/107_0019.jpg

And finally completed the runners and added the EWG port:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/107_0061.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/107_0062.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/107_0063.jpg

I still need to add an elbow that will attach to the WG, but here's how it will looks on the engine:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/107_0064.jpg

And with a GT2560 hanging from it:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/107_0065.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/107_0066.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/107_0067.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/107_0068.jpg

In case it's not clear by the pictures, it is A/C and P/S compatible.

If anyone is interested, the price for this manifold will be $450 in mild steel, not including EWG. Because of the many short radius elbows it uses, I don't think I will be making them in stainless.

Looks awsome Abe! I cant wait to slap it on my car ;D

TravisR 07-08-2010 12:29 AM

Incredible work as always! Funny how you downplay your skill in some threads, but you make monkey work out of my "Tiggin." You couldn't lay a stack of shims that flat. :)

jbrown7815 07-08-2010 12:55 AM

Does the manifold connect to turbo via v-band as well?

jeff_man 07-08-2010 01:09 AM

i going to bother you about my nb supercharger header for a long time after seeing these pics =D

You'll be really happy with it

Thanks. I do feel pretty good about my welds, but there's always room for improvement. So...how about a trade for an adaptronic

This one doesn't, but it can be done

try MSC.net :loser: if you wanna leave your car here for a week, I'll give it a shot.

Throw in a turbo and downpipe and I'll throw in a PNP loom :)

My 800CC Deatschwerks need a challenge!

jbrown7815 07-08-2010 01:40 AM

This is what I want, but with V-band everything. :)

ARTech = FTW

Did you build that collector or buy it? Great looking manifold. Looks like a shorter differently pionted prettier version of mine

mkriebs 07-08-2010 02:18 PM

Do you warranty against cracking at all? Or could you build it with some bracing to prevent the weight of the turbo cracking it? Looking to hang a GT30 off it, if I were to get it, so there's a bit of weight there.

you can have the car for months after miata's @ hallett :bigtu:

Full_Tilt_Boogie 07-08-2010 04:16 PM

Nice design. I bet boost control will be very good with the WG there.

It looks like its made of sch 40 pipe...

hustler 07-08-2010 05:20 PM

Local baller shit in here. I need to roll by your place for that master cylinder brace and I want hardpipes for my radiator hoses.

Yeah, I am not worried about the pipe cracking, I am worried about welds cracking. Never seen the pipe break, always seen welds break tho.

I've seen his work inside and out and I don't know that I've ever seen better work...its looks like a robot welded his stuff together.

Abe and I talked a long time ago about building a brace/crane welded at the CHRA bolt flanges but I'm lazy and we never did it. I don't think its the weight of the turbo that causes cracking, its harmonics and mass. However shops like Full Race and AMS don't use bracing. Also, the shorter the runners, the less likely to crack from what I understand by people with bigger brains than me.

mkriebs 07-08-2010 09:03 PM

Yes, this is all true, and his welds are stellar, don't get me wrong, I just wanna know if he stands behind his work. Even though he is an awesome fabricator, he WILL have a bad weld now and then, and I wanna know if he is willing to back it up if it happens.

Definitely not saying anything bad about the guy, I just wanna know, if I spend the money on this sexy manifold, and it cracks, am I SOL?

Gasoline or ethanol? What size turbo are you looking for?

This is what I want, but with V-band everything.
I have a couple of v-band flanges coming.

Thanks. Yes, I made the collector. Wayne did and awesome job on your collector. Fitting straight pipe to elbows as well as he did is very time consuming. My next manifold will be something with that style collector. Vibrant sells them, but unfortunately they're only available in sch10 SS so I'll have to make my own.

Yes, as long as you own the manifold, I will repair it free of charge. I can add a heim joint brace, as hustler mentioned, for peace of mind if you'd like, but it's not needed. This is sch40 (.145") material like Full_Tilt said.

I'm kind of interested in this now. I'm going to call a few places tomorrow to see howmuch materials would be.

Yes it will. Flow is sacrified a bit, but there is no better spot for the WG.

C'mon by. You haven't been here since our new concrete pad was poured. You can do donuts on my driveway now.
