Stephanie, what's the difference between the 1.8 and 1.6 downpipe? Is it just the flange at the cat? I have a cat delete pipe with 2.5" flanges and I wasn't sure if that would work with my 1.6?

The difference in the length of the 1.6 and 1.8 downpipe you are referring to... is that just some extra length at the cat flange? Reason I ask is that I was planning on fabbing up my own exhaust from the downpipe flange back so the angle angle of the cat flange and location of the cat flange are no big deal. In that case the 1.8 would work in my 1.6 with a custom cat-back exhaust. Now if the 1.8 downpipe is shaped differently at the turbo end or routed differently that would be a deal breaker. Let me know what you think as I'm definitely interested.

I was very happy when I saw the clearance prices of the downpipes.. Until I saw it was only for 1.8L Miatas. Thats when I put my sad face on.
edit: Actually, reading the above post if the 1.8DP flange that connects to the turbo, is the same as the 1.6Flange with the same angles or what not. It might actually work for my application. I don't even run a cat, and I'm planning for a custom exhaust anyways. Any input? Because as the above poster said... pretty much a deal breaker. Paypal on hand :D |

I just found a 1.6L BEGI-S downpipe in stainless. It also has a wideband O2 bung.

Just purchased. Thanks for the pleasant transaction Stephanie! |
So are the new pipes of this design the same prices as the old ones (e.g., $305 for the 1.8 BEGi-S DP)?
|
Yep.
