ViRuS2k 06-07-2010 03:39 AM

Any updates Travis?

TravisR 07-07-2010 01:16 AM

Hey Guys,

I am heading up to Connecticut to see to this project, and a few other projects that have been simmering for a while. That will be the week after next that I will be up there, and I should be bring back a load of boxes with me to finish these systems out.

Best,
Travis

+1

I haven't looked at this thread since February. Now it's five months later, and I still see nothing but excuses. Yes, Travis sent me a refund, but even that took several emails, delays, and (of course) a million ridiculous excuses.

Not alot to update here on the thread. I'm closer. One contributing factor to the slow recovery has been company money. Boundary has only cleared around 7000 since January of this year. Considering it paid out 15000 over the COP systems, that means its roughly -8000. Most of the debt was secured by my personal savings, and taking out loans to repay customers. Its not as if the money sat in Boundary's holdings or in my personal accounts. There were significant up strike costs such as the glut of connector prototypes, and significant circuitry prototyping. Not to mention the huge upfront order quantity of coils I had to buy to get a discount.

That doesn't leave a lot of skin to make the product right, but I did make sure everyone got their money back that wanted it, and I have continued to put money into the project. I recently got a engineering consultant position and that has helped significantly take my ideas from prototype to reality. So we are definitely making progress again.

I was not personally responsible for this debt either might I add. You were dealing with an LLC in which when insolvency is reached the rest of the assets are relinquished to the debtors and I am personally freed of all financial obligations. I put myself into nearly 10,000 dollars of debt I was not obligated to in order to make this right. Legally there was no recourse. I just have to ask if you would do the same Evan? And trust me, Boundary Engineering has no real assets. :giggle:

I couldn't sleep at night if I'd of known I was messing people out of money, so I put myself into debt to save the whole. I'll work my way out, but taking hard working people's money, thats something I couldn't work my way out of.

No, because I'd never be so delusional as to start a company, knowingly sell unfinished products, and lie about it for months on end -- all without having the funds or know-how to keep any of my promises.

TravisR 09-03-2010 08:01 AM

I respect your position and analysis.

Evan, we all get that you were burned and unhappy about it. Your situation has been resolved for a while now. Stop crapping up the thread with your badgering. Travis' issues are here for all to read.

All you're accomplishing is annoying me and other people who are reading this thread for new information.

Consider this a final warning.

Well I've decided to call it a day with the COP's now. Travis has been very accommodating and we have agreed a deal that he will supply alternative parts of similar worth instead.

After the long wait I'm not pissed off, I knew from the start that this was basically venture capital so was prepared for a wait. Even though I have not ended up with the product that I would have ideally wanted I will leave with my cash (well stuff worth the same value), which is a darn sight better than some deals I've been involved with in my life

The one and only criticism I have of Travis after this experience and I have told him so is over promising on delivery dates. I would rather be told it would be X months and be surprised if it arrived sooner than being repeatedly disappointed with missing dated

Hot_Wheels 11-25-2010 02:36 AM

any updates on this Travis? where you able to work the bugs out? can you provide an affordable COP kit?

TravisR 12-03-2010 09:39 AM

Hey hot wheels,

I'm not going to provide any other predictions on the COP system arriving. I can, and am working the bugs out, but the new system will have the following contraints:
  • Only works on aftermarket computers
  • Only works on 94+ cars or cars that have converted to the 94+ignitions (basically 94-00 and 01-05)
  • Will not have dwell control built in so this will be a feature of your aftermarket ECU

Safe to say that after paying back a huge number of people, I've definitely changed the way I do business and the way I approach R&D projects. Its done when its done, and there is nothing more I can say on that end. That I way I don't break any promises or obligations.

Right now my company has the money to invest in it and we are in the process of cutting CNC prototypes and bending sheet metal to fit the box, but we've been in that state for a while.
