Since then shes has many upgrades and work. Mainly to get it road worthy. But for starters, a friend and i bought a 94 parts car, and i took the torsen LSD, along with rebuilding all 4 CV joints on the rear axles, and of course some painting.

Next, was the turbo. Being the previous subaru enthusiast that I am, I opted or a used TD04 off a friend. I took it apart and powdercoated my cool side red, and purchased a FANTASTIC kit off fellow forum memeber Sturovo, who welds up exhaust bits. He made me a manifold, downpipe, oil and coolant feed and return lines all for $650!! Along with a used CX Racing intercooler, with help from my pup Harri.

Hi ricer, welcome to the forum.

Baxgordum 10-26-2014 11:45 PM

Curly you already hurt my feelings :(

18psi 10-26-2014 11:54 PM

ugh, another one of "those" kids

at least he's using decent Turbo bits

Baxgordum 10-27-2014 12:01 AM

18psi, I'm trying here. Ruining this forum 1 post at a time, however I can't completely delete myself from it due to all of the help I've already received from the great people here that do know how it works, including both yourself and Curly.

dieselmiata 10-27-2014 10:23 AM

Oh look, another plasti-dipped flat black Miata, slammed on racelands and XXRs with a GV lip.

Good to see another thesameeverybodyelseclubroadster build.

Whatever happened to originality in the car scene?

Meh, at least it looks better than that first pic. If you get it off the ground and peel the dip it might be a pretty decent car.
Do you have some more pics of Sturovo's parts?

I had to go back and look. My head exploded.

m2cupcar 10-27-2014 10:38 AM

he deserves some credit, look at it when he got it

Baxgordum 10-27-2014 10:40 AM

If you would have seen in person the paint job that destroyed this LE, you would not so much care about the black. In the picture I know it just looks white, however it was white with blue/purple sparkle in it and felt like 120 grit sand paper; as If the PO had painted it with a roller and threw some arts and crafts sparkles on it. And I'm trying to get the motor up and running before I worry about how it looks, I've got all all winter for that. I will try and get some pics up of Sturovo's parts when I get home. And the XXRs are cheap, but weighed a lot less compared to the 15x10 and 15x8 diamond steelies that were on it.

glade 10-27-2014 10:41 AM

For some reason, I keep thinking the photos are swapped. Like he got it when it was plasti dipped black, and looked ok-ish from 10 ft. And now it's transformed into the white pile.

I dunno, maybe it's the ricer dyslexia, where everything stated is fucked up and backwards.

Also, why two identical threads?

Not bashing op, it's just whenever I see something hella slammed, my eyes glaze over, and I have to re-read Shit to comprehend it

Baxgordum 10-27-2014 10:41 AM

I also plan on some sort of flares or over fenders because they were rolled and pulled to look like pieces of bacon.

I don't know, I need the first post deleted. My internet double posted for some reason.

Let's list the POS parts:

I like that the Racelands aren't listed as mods. I DO like that the timing belt is listed as a mod.

One more step and you can put your spark plugs on your mod list, too!

The rice lands were a bonus from the PO. It's a work in progress, perhaps I should just close this up and post next year when it's finished?

curly 10-27-2014 11:20 AM

No, you need this thread to make sure you don't buy stupid shit. Like ricelands or xxrs.

darkcambria 10-27-2014 11:21 AM

You seem to be a good sport about it so far. The car is doing better than when it started so keep updating to show dericing.

dieselmiata 10-27-2014 11:23 AM

Perhaps I was mistaken in your intent. It looked as if you were taking a riced out car, and adding more rice to it. If the intent is to actually de-rice the car, it will do well here provided you don't replace crap parts with crap parts.

But everyone's eyes here glaze over at the sight of a plastidip Miata. Especially one with the trifecta of fail that is racelands/xxrs/GV lip.

See that's the problem with all this. We're trying to fix your mindset.

Ricelands are never a bonus. Unless you mean it in the ironic way.

"I fucked this hooker. As a bonus, i got AIDS!"

Monk 10-27-2014 12:02 PM

You keep your ass in that chair mister. It'll be tough love, but we'll fix you. You'll be picking up dudes in your true-baller ride in no time.

It was just sarcasm, I hate them just as much as the next person, but they were on the car when I got it and brought it home. Anyway, no one has had to see this eye sore for a while as its been sitting in the garage without a motor. A couple more updates include 1.8l brakes all around

Got a roll bar locally.

After some wire wheeling I managed to get the rust out of the bay and repainted it.

And pulled the rest of the bottom end apart last night as well.

Also, for those of you interested in Sturovo's work, here is a picture of his 1.6l TD04 kit.

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1414426323

Mine however had a longer downpipe to eliminate the length of where the cat should go and a flexpipe was intalled.

sixshooter 10-27-2014 12:28 PM

We welcome your efforts to improve your car after someone else messed it up. You have a good attitude and I think these guys are giving you just a little too much shit.

Good luck with the build.

Thank you for the kind words sixshooter, it was really a shame the way I picked this thing up. It would scrape on everything, the fenders looked awful, both inner cv boots were trashed, also the "exhaust" or lack there of was smashed down to about .5" thick to fit under the axle. I can't believe someone would ruin an LE that way.

sixshooter 10-27-2014 01:11 PM

A lot of stupid things pass for style, like cars dragging on the ground, jeans drooping around your knees, gold teeth, ball caps turned backwards.

I appreciate your efforts to get real performance functionality out of the car.

Wow, he is getting really good at making this stuff. He used to do it all with a stick welder.

I think he does great work and would recommend him to anyone. He does all sorts of custom jobs, not just TD04 stuff. The only thing I plan on changing is the rear most flange is in a strange position just like how the rear cat flange would be positioned. I'll be making the catback myself so I may cut off his rear flange and use V-band. Can't fabricate the rest of that until I get the motor and trans back in unfortunately.

Thank you sixshooter, I wish I had a picture of the windshield banner that was on it. In bright purple vinyl it read "Slammed harder than your girlfriend" along with 15 other mindless sayings up the side. Needless to say that was the first thing to come off.

Baxgordum 10-30-2014 05:39 PM

Got some new parts in today. The racing beat tubular front swaybar with adjustable end links, ARP head studs, and Eagle h beam rods. I still haven't decided on a piston yet. Really torn between wisecos or super techs. The wisecos are stronger, but heat up more and have a higher cylinder wall/piston clearance to allow for this and cause piston slapping. But I've read the super techs are made of a different alloy that will allow for a tighter clearance however are a bit weaker. Decisions decisions..

sixshooter 10-30-2014 06:07 PM

Get 8.6 Supertechs from 949 Racing. They are a good product at a good price from a forum vendor and he supplies better piston rings with his pistons than some others.

Baxgordum 10-30-2014 06:22 PM

I will surely look into that. I also noticed on Fab9 Tuning they offer the super techs with Wiseco NPR XX rings as a package.

Baxgordum 10-30-2014 06:37 PM

I've also come to the realization that the TD04 won't be capable of my power goals and am upgrading to a IHI VF39 STI turbo. If anyone wants a powdercoated red TD04 that's already been clocked to work with Sturovo's kits let me know haha.

Baxgordum 11-14-2014 07:16 PM

ARP main bearing cap studs came in today, I need to give them to the machine shop asap. Everything is finally in place there. Head got torn apart, hot tanked, checked for cracks, new valve stems, +1mm super tech intake and exhaust valves, total reassembly. As for the block, hot tanked, checked for cracks, cylinder overbore .5mm, crank will be polished and with the new studs in it will be align honed. Both gasket surfaces on the head and block were decked. Can't wait to get everything back from the machine shop!

Baxgordum 11-29-2014 05:03 PM

I didn't get any pictures when everything got back, this this lame poor quality video. I painted the block black then sealed everything back up until I'm ready to assemble. Since then I've been smoothing the casting lines out of my intake manifold for powdercoating and beginning to design an undertray/ front splitter.
