Moving the intercooler back will allow airflow over it and beneath the crossbar, increasing volume to the radiator. Otherwise it plugs up the bumper mouth with intercooler, which is more restrictive than the radiator itself. Moving it back 2 inches will make a big difference.

If you aren't having problems on the track, that's all you need. But if you do, it may help to open that up.

Took a trip up to HWY129 this morning to get a feel for all the changes to the car. I haven't put any "serious" mileage on the car since the seat replacement and some ride height changes. The seat is better than my last one but some padding in the lumbar area would be nice. The amount I have it leaned back is about perfect and really helps keep your knees from being strained. My last seat was much too upright and low making your knee a point of leverage. After about 2 hours I would try and use my left foot for the gas to stretch out my right. It wasn't fun nor safe.
I did run into a bit of a hotstart issue. I pulled off to take out the rear sway bar since I kept unloading an inside tire, so about 5-8mins off. I went to start it and it really didn't want to start. Once I did get it started it sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders and I could hear it almost ping at idle. I was seeing 22-24:1 on the AFR gauge, which no way is correct. So not sure if the sensor on my LS2 is going bad or something in my afterstart enrichment is playing poorly with the cooler weather. In boost I saw 12-14psi like normal and it pulled fine, in fact, great. Not really sure what to make of it. At Tapoco Lodge. Took a trip up to The Dragon on Monday. Figured it was gonna be an off day but during this time of year I don't think there is one. The road looked great but my runs had some traffic.

My wife got into an accident with her car. It was a 1990 NA so it was a perfect donor for some parts on my car. Since I've been doing more track driving with the car, which means driving the car to the track as well, I have been suffering the harsh NVH of the car. So I decided to add in some interior trim, carpet, and better condition seals. I took a few things from the engine bay as well, new window cowl up front and some random hardware that was lost on my car. So far I have gotten the side panels in around the roll bar. They have the cutouts for side striker plates. Also she had the half fold windshield visors, so I grabbed the driver side. Gonna throw the carpet in soon but I have to remount my ECU and battery. I would like to make the install a bit cleaner and keep it easy to access. Probably gonna put it in the passenger side on the trans tunnel.
She slid up under a Jeep doing about 15mph. The car was already hail damaged. It was just a cheap commuter that we had gotten for free about 5 years ago. Attachment 232429 Passenger side trim pieces in along with the metal piece that covers the fuel tank area, not sure what it's called. Had to trim it up a bit for the roll bar and my Kirkey back brace but it should help a ton with my NVH. Attachment 232430 Driver side with the back brace installed. Really happy with how the trim turned out. Took a good amount of time on the belt grinder to get right but it fits super flush. Attachment 232431 Carpet out and cleaned. Gonna be nice not melting skin on the trans tunnel during the summer months on mountain roads. lol Attachment 232432 The rest of the time this winter is going to be just regular maintenance. probably going to source an NB subframe and knuckles/steering rack. I have somehow bent something on either a lower control arm or a subframe and can't get above 3* of castor on the passenger side. It happened at some point when I had the 275s on the car and it proceeded to eat the sidewall of the tire on the chassis in hard turns. |

Put a new fuel sock on my DW200. It was linked in another thread being an OEM Denso replacement, so hopefully I won't get fuel starvation in long left-handers. Had to get that on there before I put the rear carpet in the car. Don't have a drip rail anymore so I just cut and drilled some thin sheet steel for a "clamp" on the back shelf. The rest of the carpet is all just cut or clearanced for other items in the car. Going to mount my battery in the front passenger footwell along with the MS2.
This interior should help make the car way more street friendly and probably add a bit a value when I go to sell it sometime soon'ish. Really thinking about an FRS/BRZ in the next year or two. Attachment 232427 Attachment 232428 |

Put the carpet in and mounted the battery. Probably didn't need a video over it but wanted to try out the new mic. Audio quality is much better but now it really highlights the lack of good video. lol

About to head to Barber Motorsports park for a trackday. Getting the car out of the garage and prepped is the point of this one. Really looking forward to getting on Barber. I have only heard great things about the track and facilities.

Quickest lap I pulled at Barber. What a fun track. Car felt great but I left plenty of time out there. The VR1s are good but they don't communicate as well as the BFGs.

Fun video of me and another Turbo miata around barber. He's probably on this site, I would assume. Had to cut the session a lap or two short since I was out of fuel. I broke up a bit around T6 and figured I shouldn't push my luck anymore since I was driving the car home as well.

Well, decided it was time to try something new. Enjoyed the Miata and plan to keep it around but I have a feeling it's going to be getting less and less attention (or money) pumped into it for a bit.

Been a good while since I posted. Life just kinda busy I guess. Also this RX7 is another level of part sourcing. Been spoiled by the Miata and the ease at which finding parts/work-arounds is. Not the same for the FD by any means.
