2015 LFX Fuel Rail Removal
Hi Guys,
Not sure this was the best place to ask this, but I'll give it a shot. Anybody have any pointers for removing the LFX fuel rail? I want to clean out the fuel system, but this is proving a lot more difficult than I thought. The fuel rail comes up with the injectors still mounted and it doesn't seem like there is enough room to get it out. It comes up a couple of inches and then the injectors can't squeeze out between the head and the other injector rail. I looked online and they seem to skip that part in detail. One guy pulled the head off in a demo and he pulled the injectors out first, but on my engine is a bit different. The injectors do not sit on a separate rail to push against.
Regards,
Joel

Nevermind. I figured it out. The secret is to rotate the injectors to a vertical position and then you still have to play games pushing forward/backward and tilting front to back. Also start with the left side bank. Leave the connectors on the rails and pull the rail out with the connectors.
Any problems with the teflon seals coming out as well? Looking through some of the GM documentation they had a special removal tool, kinda like a slide hammer, kinda put the damper on wanting to pull the injectors for a cleaning.
I would highly recommend leaving the fuel rail alone unless you absolutely have to remove it. Total PITA.

You don't need a single one of the special tools shown as required. It isn't a fun job, but isn't too crazy complicated. Just time consuming.
