I introduce you to
Car might look familiar to some of you. It needs a few things, mainly a good tune and fixing a few mechanical issues. Now I am diving deep into the whole MS chasm. Probably will need some help from You guys.
Turbo is an EFR 7163

Sixshooter has been a tremendous help so far coaching me in all things megasquirt.
So, when moving the car around, an exhaust flange fell off creating a huge leak. When I plugged into tuner studio, I noticed the AFRs were all out of wack. When I fixed the leak this morning, I noticed the o2 sensor was way to the back of the car. Is that ideal?
Edit: Just learned that it is in the factory location. It was a surprise to me that it would be so far back.

The problem is mostly inexperience. It is getting better, however. The current issue is throttling just off idle. Needs lots of work there. My concern is getting very delayed info making it difficult to tune throttle enrichment because the episode of a throttling is so short.
I am leaning towards moving it before going to much further.

Innovate says 24”. Mine is right at that and has survived 30k miles over 5 years. YMMV. Slight delay, not too bad.
Super that you have this car.
Off throttle can not be fixed with EGO. Not even the beta faster response firmware. It has to be addressed with AE or EAE. I doubt it will ever be as good as ITB, though.
Wherever the sensor is, you will get some delay. I have strived to have the AFR at least not move the wrong way. EG. punch... you are now in a place on the map that calls for richer AFR, so, the AFR error is going to go plus. That can be ignored. Instantaneously, the sensor sees the exhaust produced at idle, but the AFR table is asking for richer. So it is a false signal. Then the richer exhaust gas will come to the sensor, and the AFR and target should match. So AFR reading itself should go punch;14.7 14.7 14.7 13.0 or such. That is OK. If it goes punch; 14.7 14.7 14.7 16.2 13.0; then you need more AE: you have truly gone lean.

Only had a short tuning session today, but made major progress. When on the gas the car runs great, off throttle it still bucks pretty bad. Pulls real hard on the gas. I have to be in 4th to prevent spinning. It’s really something.

Had to pull the intake to investigate a small coolant and oil leak. Easy to fix issues, but while I am in there, thought it would be a good time to eliminate the oil warmer/cooler. I am looking for a continuous threaded oil filter nipple if anyone has one. This car probably doesn’t have the continuous threaded one.

Race motor with race motor start up procedures, service intervals, and rebuild intervals. I’m thinking cold engine oil at startup will be the least of it’s worries.
Honestly though, I want the least amount of clutter under the hood I can get away with, and it needs to go on a diet. She FAT!
