Pearl white looks great. If you really want to get crazy one of the best combos I have seen is white with a tiny bit of blue metallic in it with a pear clear. A guy that works at the paint shop I get my supplies from had a test piece he did In that scheme. It was amazing.

From a guy who's done plenty of body work and has painted plenty of cars I can tell you, GREAT JOB!

The one thing I dont do is the final polishing and buffing. I HATE doing that. I thought about painting my old NA that same color till I chose Blu Scurro off of the Diablo SV. That color you have is great though

RyanRaduechel 04-23-2012 02:27 PM

The hardtop just seems intimidating, the damn thing cost almost as much as my car. Thr proper way would be pulling out the back window. When I get extra money and it comes down to buying the paint I'll have to decide then. I'll talk to my cousin, he owns a body shop, really where I learned everything from. See what paint he can get at what price.

Do they look like they fit badly or when you put them in your feeling mehish. I found the pic with them in and they look good to me, pretty much what I was thinking should go there. Do they have a black trim or is the pic just ------- with me?

No trim ring.

They just don't fit the contour. the front sticks out a bit and isn't flush. Its subtle though so I think I will keep them.

It is just about done... Sealer/ Wax tomorrow. I still need to put the NACA duct in the front headlight cover and install my race seats.

We pulled it into the sun for the first time today. Really dusty, but I took a few pics. They don't do justice to just how amazing this color is. I really can't believe that I painted it in a makeshift garage .

Better pics will come in a few days after the seats are installed.

EDIT: oh ignore the big hole in the headlight cover. It is going to rain tomorrow so I didnt install the CF duct.

Looks terrible. It's all shiny, not faded like it's supposed to be.

240_to_miata 05-13-2012 09:00 PM

Naw man the vintage faded miatas are the single stage NA6's ...lol this baby is a 96. Almost brand new at 141,xxx miles.

yah these cars come with matte paint from the factory

FowlerMotorsports 05-13-2012 11:17 PM

I love this car. You did a great job with step by steps on how you did your paint work, great job! Can't wait to see more results

astroboy 05-15-2012 11:44 PM

Love it, can't wait to see it in person. A query for you:

Have you given thought to changing the color of the wheels? I think if they were a different color they would really complete the package.

240_to_miata 05-16-2012 06:26 AM

I have debated changing the color, but I dont really love white wheels.

viperormiata 05-16-2012 11:16 AM

Orange and pink bro HelLa DoPE Tyte DrIFTz!!!!!!!!

Have you considered going to a darker shade of gray?

240_to_miata 05-16-2012 11:30 AM

Ive considered not painting any more ---- on my car lol.

I actually wish I got the bright silver instead of dark. I dont want dark wheels with the dark blue.

I thought gunmetal would complement the turn signals and side markers well. If not that then a brilliant silver would be nice.

Something kinda like dis:

FowlerMotorsports 05-16-2012 10:40 PM

How did you roll your fenders?

240_to_miata 05-16-2012 10:54 PM

Fender roller. It didn't come out perfect because I hit some rust on the edge So I spent some time working the metal by hand (hammer) to get it better durring the body work process.

And no Martin. My "ugly primer" wheels are staying.

FowlerMotorsports 05-16-2012 11:01 PM

I had noticed that in your post, can't tell at all. I just didn't know if you used a roller or home remedy. Good job! Car looks sick

Hmm, maybe a bronze, gold, or nickle?

I have to say I threw a bronze 6ul on my mariner and it didn't look great, you certainly have a different blue than I though.

It's just a shame such a great paint job is turned sour with those plastic looking wheels, sorry. I could understand not wanting to work on it any more and just driving though.

Just do a bunch of heavy stops, the brake dust will take care of the color.

240_to_miata 05-17-2012 07:14 AM

Look what you started martin...

To be honest TRM C3M's are so dirt cheap that when I replace my tires I will most likely just order a set mounted/balanced on new wheels from Tire Rack and then just sell these. Then I will choose a new color...probably the brighter silver.

astroboy 05-17-2012 11:11 PM

Mwahahahahaha

adriver1990 05-19-2012 02:06 PM

BTW great job on the polishing man, came out superb.

240_to_miata 05-20-2012 04:16 PM

Dont worry.. I took care of the wheel color. Brake dust with the DTC looks just like the first "alternative wheels" pic lol

astroboy 05-20-2012 04:26 PM

So looks like no white wheel combo with the new brake setup huah?
