Sean 07-16-2010 12:12 PM

I want to see some vids too. I am on the waiting train from hell for the wiring. I promise as soon as it starts there will be a vid no matter how good it runs but soon after that it will be good vids.

Tried running a jumper wire from the harness straight to the injectors? Just a thought..

Sean 07-17-2010 01:37 PM

Yea I tried that and still go tnothin I think it had to do with a combination of things one being the one half of the injector harness was not getting power, two the ignitor I had was going bad, 3 I am missing a signal that comes back to the ecu.

So I just read this entire thread it has been kinda like getting blue balls I am about to finnish and then you stop giving me pleasure then you start getting me excited again and now I am flacid with a sore nutsack......So is this finished yet or not?

So the guy that is wiring the car is starting to scare me. He is now telling me he needs a fuse box for the engine from a supra, a new ecu, distributor, ignitor, coil, and something else. I think I am going to have to break down and buy a harness.

It's about time you came to your senses!! Seriously, I bet I didn't have 8 hours of effort to get my car running, including the time spent to find the harness pieces online. I patched together a complete harness from several sources, plugged everything in and the car cranked. Because the factory system had an immobilizer I had to trailer the car over to a honda dealer who hooked up the honda computer to my obd II port entered the code, and crank crank varoooom. You are making things way to hard on yourself cutting corners on the wiring. Bite the bullet, get it running, then back out all the wiring you don't need.

buffon01 08-10-2010 05:00 PM

Do whatever you have to do. I want to see this noooow....

Great story. The end is a little disappointing. Don't let this be the end.

It took me about 12hrs to read this full thread. Mostly reading at work from my cell phone. I purchased a 2gz ge that overheated from a friend this morning. A quick search lead me here to see that it does actually fit.

I am currently in the middle of moving out of my house and back to my parents so I can go back to school. While this sucks from a social point of view and it makes me feel kinda like a failure I still make really good money and with no bills to pay I will have no problems buying a harness and what ever else is needed. My new plan is to have this on the road by the first of the year I am going to take the time I have now to check the brake system and all the hydrolics. As well as any wiring as far as gauges and fans and things like that go and then spend the $1000 to get the harness reworked like I should have and then bing bang hook up 5 wires drive it down to get tuned and I'm done. Hell yea. This car will be on the road it is to close to not be.

Sean 08-23-2010 08:46 AM

Spoolin if you need any help let me know I can give you a lot of insight.

spoolin 08-24-2010 10:27 AM

Im not definite on the project yet but thanks for the offer.

I have been reading about 2j swaps for the past day or so. The ge motor uses a distributor which I would imagine also communicates with the ecm to tell the injectors when to fire. The gte uses both a crank and cam sensors. I cant remember which harness you have but It would seem you need to match up the ge computer with ge harness or vice-versa. This is probably little help as you are most likely aware of it but I figured it wouldn't hurt to let you know.

Sean 08-24-2010 10:48 AM

Thanks for the thought it is always good. I have a GE motor with a GE harnes, Ge computer and all GE sensors so all of that should be good the problem lies in getting signals in and out of the dash harness as well as a few power and ground wires and back to the ecu where they need to be.

spoolin 08-24-2010 05:44 PM

I should still have access to alldata if there is a circuit or wire you need verified, I would love to help. This build is budget the way I like it, who needs a thousand dollar harness.

Sean 09-03-2010 08:18 AM

Ok went and picked up my car yesterday and I am glad to have it back safe at the house so it cannot get messed up anymore than it is. The new plan is to finish all the small stuff make sure all the piping fits well get all the interior pieces put back in all the gauges working and then jump on the harness one more time and if it doesn't work send it out I will at least give it one more go. I am going to tuck most of the wires away and also the exhaust is going out the passenger side fender and I will have to relocate the fuse box so I have more work to do but it should be worth it in the end instead of rushing anything.

buffon01 09-03-2010 09:16 AM

My balls are ultra-violet at this point.

Sean 09-03-2010 09:23 AM

Mine are worse let me tell you I sat in my car last night and wanted to cry. Also the only time the car has seen the road in the last year and a half was on a tow strap on the back of my Honda. The good news is the brakes work good and the suspension feels good and drives straight so I am hoping to start getting more updates for all of you soon.
