We've finished up for this weekend. The engine side of the harness is all extended, repinned, and wired. Still have a couple small connectors that we don't know exactly what they go to. But i'm sure they'll be apparent once it's got power again.




Owner sold his hard top. Money for buying rear deck carpet, soft top, and newish NA8 seats, hopefully trunk carpet and a few other minor detail things will come with.

Next couple updates should be fun. Will have more parts coming in for the manifold build. Stainless piping and what not. Hopefully we can get it on the road soon after. As long as i don't drag *** with building the turbo setup.
Oh and we still need a megasquirt. So if anyone has one to sell, that would be great.

 

What the **** Florida?




Every time i dig into this car, i find more bad news.
Looks to be just that plate that covers the ECU. The floor board looks bad, but from what i can see it does not look rusted, if anything it's more than savable.
Well and the hole(that someone obviously drilled) in the floor i'll have to weld shut.

 

I go through all of this, and only found $0.40. What the serious **** Florida? The driver side better produce.








Got the ECU plate off, that looks to be the only thing that was seriously rusted. The rest is all plenty savable. Only now we'll have to find a new way to mount and protect the Megasquirt.

Debating weather or not i want to do any more. Can't quite bring myself to prep and paint all this crap right now.
Maybe i should go buy some beer. It's way to late in the day for me to be sober.

Some of that Taiwanese 316l came in today.



They forgot to ship the straight part. :(

It wasn't that much. Then again i'm not paying, i was just told to get the best i could get.

For ***** and giggles i called the local metal place asking about a section of 316 pipe 1' long. The guy said it was like $75. Screw that, i can get some online for a quarter of that price.

 

Yeah the 316 pipe is only a couple bucks more than the 304, its the 316 flanges that cost a fortune.

 

Ordered 2 two bolt 2 1/2" 304 exhaust flanges and it was 25 bucks.

I'll be putting gussets between the pipe and header flange, because that's 304.

 

The beautiful clean soft top is on. Glass rear window.


Oh you know. Just welding up holes in the floor.

Gotta admit, you'd never think this was an NA6. Other than cockpit brace which we have. Need to get a weldnut, or rig something up. It should be easy to make it work.


Then we started doing this. Until we broke it.


So we made a beer run.

Nice progress! It's going to be a good time when the Detroit area NA gang is all up and running.

 

So we decided not to do any drinking this weekend and we hardly got anything anything done.
But we did end up doing a few things.

Started out by doing some work to the 1.8 coil bracket so we could fit the 1.6 coils.
Plasma cutter. mmmmmmm


Something like this.


Bottom holes needed to be widened, and i had to make a plate for the top bolts.
Easy enough.


The coils are fatter than the 1.8 ones and hit the back of the head, so we had to put some spacers in, and extended bolts.




Then we started ******* around.


Welding and ****.




So we could mount this here.
You can hardly see it after it was painted with the Brainiac high efficiency-high strength-high temp-ultra protective black intercooler paint®.


Made sure it worked. It will have a bottom cooling plate that will also help keep it in place.

while he was ******* around with a coil bracket, i was making provisions to keep me out of jail in the near future.

This weekend is shaping up to be a big weekend as far as this car goes. Maybe even mine too.
