Just arrived:D

Mpliki 02-14-2018 07:27 AM

I had a lot of fun that day!

Sooo yesterday i installed BBK from TSE with dynapro calipers in black.

Before:
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...604659efec.jpg

After i removed the wheel i cleaned the hub as best as i could and check the bearing for any play. Thankfully there was none :D
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...0711f4f7b2.jpg
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...e673a52880.jpg
In order to install the BBK some modification must be done on the metal sheet in order for the Rotor to go in without touching anything. Sadly i do not have any pictures of the modification i did.

Then installed the 2 piece rotor and the caliper to check for clearances (just to be safe) and everything was ok

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...aa41de2450.jpg

After some thought i decided to go with wilwood's bp20 pads for steer use. For trackdays i think i will go with hawk's DTC 60.

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...76e6b355b.jpeg

And installed

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...8dc9952c8.jpeg

I check everything, flushed with ATE type200 which was included in TSE's kit and went for a ride. Came back and checked for leaks and any lose bolts.

I will start the brake in and come back with impressions. Any suggestions on how to brake in the rotors and pads or what to be carefull during this stupid slow driving period will be much appreciated.

Heres a pic of my cat

I'm sure your wheel bearing is fine, but you really should check with a wheel attached, it'll be very difficult to apply enough force on the tiny hub by hand to detect any play. Even with the wheel attached, I've missed some bad ball joints or bearings by not rocking the wheel hard enough. The front can be difficult because left/right rocking tends to move the rack, but if you truly have wheel bearing play it'll rock up/down too. Just be sure any play you do find isn't the upper or lower ball joint before blaming the wheel bearing.

Have you weighed your car? Parts I'm worried about:

Coolant reroute form skidnation. And i finnaly put a thermostat in for 180F
MS2pnp
6speed with a stock 1.8 flywheel and a custom 6 puck clutch
JR 19 wheels 16'' with 595 RS-R.195 front and 205 rear.
Roll bar, frame rails, BeatRush PPF brace.
Power steering and A/C working good

I'd try to put a 190 in and correctly control temperatures. Granted I'm not turbo charged, but even when I was, I could not get out of the 170s with my 180 rerouted setup unless I was on track. That's way too cold for the street. Then again I don't have AC.

MS2pnp, I'd wait for your ms3 before bothering with any sequential mods. I believe you can do sequential fuel but not spark.

The flywheel, 16" wheels, roll bar PPF brace (I'd ditch that), plus PS/AC, it's gotta be a bit of a pig.

Also why are your tires staggered??

Will do that with the wheel on.

Coolant reroute form skidnatio so far so good. Here in Greece when the temperature rises during summer time it gets hot so 180 is good. The temperature fluctuates between 198 and 180 during normal driving-pulls.In traffic max temp is 205

MS2pnp why it worries you. Pretty sure that sequential spark is doable.

I am curently checking options to change my clutch. I leaning towards ACT XT 6 puck

I kinda like the 16 inch but will eventually go to 15x9 6ul. This NB1 compared to my previous NA1 (No carpets,AC, heating, PS, Spare tire and with 15 inch wheels) is a little pig but i love it :D

I know what staggered means, but i cant undesrtand how to translate it on my tires (English is not my native language)

Also i posted on spool data and i cant see my post. It said that it need's approval from a moderator. Is this because i am noob, or this is standard practice?

sixshooter 02-18-2018 07:09 AM

Staggered means running different size tires front and rear.

Thank you for the explanation.

So my bad i whent down and checked the tire size and i have fwd 205/45/16 and 205/50/16. I dont know if that is still considered staggered but i will search here and find out what are the consequences.

Today i tried ti set up CL idle and followed general guides regarding the correct process.

First i tested the idle valve with the test function and wrote down these values: 63 (is the threshold at the point where the rpm starts to reduce)
: 23 (Threshold where the rpm stop reducing below it)

So i headed to closed loop idle valve setings and entered the values i found. On idle valve closed duty % i entered 23
and on open duty i enterd 63. Shit.... it was like the test mode. The car revved to 4000 rpm and stayed there.. Sooo what the heck am i doing wrong....

sonofthehill 02-21-2018 11:43 PM

Put the open duty at 45

sonofthehill 02-21-2018 11:44 PM

So it's been a while since my last update.

First of all i finish setting up CL idle andi tunned the car much better.
Installed oil temperature and pressure gauges.

I changed my small intercooler with a larger one.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...e577acd880.jpg

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...91cafa53e1.jpg

Hot side is 2 inch and 2.5 inch cold side.

Next i installed a fuelab FPR . Sorry no photos.

next i bought 4 vag coils. Red top:
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...a09f349aee.jpg
And i bought all the nessesary parts to make a loom and run them in sequential, but i found out with the help of Matt Cramer that with an ms2pnp it is not possible because i would have to give up VICS and fan control.

So i remade the loom to run them in wasted spark and it worked. I used the oem plugs and they work perfect with no problems.
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...2b1d33f9b7.jpg
I changed the dwell times and the car fired right up

Next i received my new gauges from revlimiter.
i chose the apollo with leds.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...0f11562c7b.jpg
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d1e0c29e12.jpg

Changing the gauges and setting the needles was easy. Just follow the instructions

Awesome product and the packaging was great. Thanx a lot dude. I like dealing with professionals that respect their customers.

Cheers Adam!

Next i installed the AIT sensor. Some guys told me that i should install it just before the throttle body, but i wannted to avoid heatsoak so i installed it right after the outlet of the intercooler.
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...f0e6d1e9e9.jpg

After some pulls 2nd 3rd 4th the max air temp i recorded was 91 with ambient temps around 65 -66.

Today i did a bumper cut(i will upload some photos of that soon)
and just as i finished this arived
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1861f2e20b.jpg
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...561818cb5c.jpg

Saddly i forgot to order the vband ring and clamp for the downpipe ,so i will have to wait for them to arrive.

And last but not least, i ordered from fab9 engine mounts 70 durometers and a mounting base for my sparco seat. Unfortunately i order them on 28 of march and up until today they have not been shipped. I send 3 emails and he responded on one of them saying that he will look at it but after that nothing.

Is this common or should i be scared? :noes:

Next on my to do list, is to change the vinyl top with a brand new mohair top with heated glass which i have here

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...c4e774cb47.jpg

So what's left to do. A boundary engineer oil pump
ATI damper
Gates cam belt
Install an oil cooler and a ms3.
If the powar is soooo sweet and the 6speed dies, i will check kmiatas solution.

Mpliki 10-28-2018 02:47 AM

Long time since my last update.

I installed the mohair top. Good quality and better looking than the vinyl one.

Bought from fab9 (big mistake) and installed AWR performance engine mounts 70 durometer (streetcar). It feels more rigid now.

I was not so happy with spool - power band and reading-watching all those videos with them borgs, i decided to go the efr way.

I bought a 6758 6months ago and i found out that i could not make it fit with my manifold due to the fact that EFR is longer then the gtx and i could not fit
a downpipe.. So i ordered the TSE mani, downpipe and inconel stud kit. ....

And waited...

And waited...

And waited...

Finally they arrived. After only a few months. :giggle:
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...cedec9eab6.jpg
.

Good quality stuff and worth the wait. So far all TSE parts i received are very good quality products.

While i was waiting for the happines kit, i was reading threads about the efrs and how important is the correct size for oil supply and return lines.

So i when i started to install all the parts that will give me happines, i made new oil and water feed lines. Supply is about the size of AN6 line (because the length in more than 18 inch) and the return line is 0.55''.
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...6e1bc375a7.jpg

After i busted my head with routing the turbo to intercooler line(i have PS and AC, because street car) I was a bit sceptical for the downpipe fitment (more money than brains thread) but all turned out good, great fitment :)

I finished everything at 02:00, guess what... i did not have an exhaust..

Soooo i had to drive home home with the downpipe.... It was a nice experience althought a scary one,. Thankfully no cops :fawk: so i managed to get home.

Next day i went to connect the down pipe to the muffler

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...4b6a767cf3.jpg

And of i went again to my friends shop to alter the wastegate braket, because the turbo originaly had a divided turbo housing and i changed it to a t25 and i did not notice at the time that the braket was wrong (i already ordered the correct bracket) and was placing the wastegate way off the correct place for proper operation.
A few minutes later with a blow torch and some hammering- test fitting i was ready for tunning and testing.

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...3c318a4012.jpg

Needles to say the turbo gave me warm feelings ;)

Compared to my Gen1 gtx 2867 it's much more responsive and the spoool is way better that i imagined.

All that is left is to modify the turbosmart double port wastegate i had of the garrett, install it, wait for the MS3pnp pro, 4port boost control solenoid and properly tune the close loop boost control to make it spool even better.

I plan to upload videos with spool soon.

Also i want to install supertech heavy double valve springs. Do they work with stock cams or i need to make any further mods?

ridethecliche 10-28-2018 10:46 AM

Congrats on getting the new setup up and running! Do you have logs of the two setups that can show the difference in spool or is the better spool mostly noticeable when it comes to transient response?

Thank you. I have the logs for both, the gtx and the borg. I will upload as soon as i have the chance.

Savington 10-28-2018 01:59 PM

Nicely done. I have not driven a GTX2867, but I have driven a 2863 and the difference between that and the 6758 is still very dramatic. :)

I had a custom made tubular mani with equal length pipes, 3 inch down pipe and 3 inch exaust with the turbosmart wastegate and i could not hit 14.7 psi (1 bar) before 4000rpm.

The 6758 is truly magical and with your mani and dp it really spools. Although it has a bigger turbine wheel that the gtx it spools almost as the 2560 i had on my 1.6 NA.

titanium aluminide delivered all those great things i read here.

Also i am waiting for the 4 port solenoid and a fuel pump wire kit.:D

When we have them, you'll have them. :) Waiting for more 4-port brackets now, should have them in another 1.5wks.
