I saw you mention the 7D the other day and looked it up.....fuckallthat$. Way too expensive. I'm going craigslist shopping in a couple months with like 400 cash and finding a decent camera. I don't need something amazing, just a decent sensor and a good lense.

My dad has a decent camera that I used for all the transmission shots, but it doesn't do video. So I'm looking for a $400-500, probably cannon, camera+lense, that also takes video.

IMO the budget Canon DSLR deal is a T2i with the 18-55 IS kit lens. That lens is next in line after the 50 f1.8 for quality in consumer-level Canon lenses. And I have a 24-70 2.8 L to compare it to. I have both the T2i and 18-55 as a "walk around" pair for still and video because they're extremely light - plastic. They're selling on eBay as a kit for < $300 with discreet bidding.

Or you can pick up a body/charger, lens and battery separately for around $250.

Are the lenses/batteries the same?
Could I start with the EOS and only upgrade the body?
The sealed bit has me liking the 7d though.

<p></p><p>"EOS" is canon's line of DSLRs.</p><p>Just look at the mount. For the most part yes, unless you bought a full frame like a 6D later, which wouldn't accept an EF-S lens.</p><p> </p><p>EDIT: It's also worth noting, Canon lenses typically aren't sealed until you get into the Prime series stuff.</p>

The whole package is upgradeable is what I mean. I can buy cheap **** now. And only replace the body later. Any lenses/flash/mics whatever could be kept.
