Milled the hole for the tailshaft extension. Next up I need to calculate how long it needs to be extended. I may also need to add some sort of support around the seal. Give the shaft something to ride on. Maybe just a simple delrin bushing will do.

Got rid of the radio. May be adding some sort of wired amp back in. Or pulling the whole system out.
Got a little carried away with switch holes.
Anybody have wired amp suggestions? #1 priority is small. Just a 3.5 input, power, ground, and speaker connections. Don't need any fancy features. Oh and cheap too lol.

Lepy might be what you want: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ULRFQ1A/ 2 ch, 20 watt.
If you want a bit more power, this is what I put in the FD: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JEC0YFQ/ 4 ch, 45 watt.

Does anyone have an ID1000 handy? I need a measurement of the tophat.
I'm looking for how long the straight part of the tophat is. Right before it curves out.

They experimented with a lot of now-strange engine configurations in the first half of the 20th century. Straight 8s were fairly common, there were even some F1 cars with them in the 50s.
But yeah, these days they don't make sense in cars for packaging reasons and aircraft have pretty much all switched to turbines, so you're left with heavy equipment. The enormous 2-stoke diesels used in ships are inline engines and come in various lengths including 12.
