In other news: had a great time at the track today. Tires are still iceballs but the brakes did pretty well. I think ducting is needed, because although they performed great all day the pedal did soften occasionally. With no actual effect on braking performance. I should also think about a higher temp fluid.
Had some good dorifto moments. Most caught on camera.
Also almost got rear ended when a fox body decided he wanted to do 45 into T10...
Potentially rainy autox tomorrow. Then track season is over.
Hailey is ecstatic

Knock sensor is on the list. I have one on my VVT block. Need to get a knock module and some det cans.
Egt is easier to install and monitor. But its all going to happen eventually.
Please no arguing in my ramble thread. People might have trouble finding things about my build if you argue too much

Also one last comment. We were not searching for power at 220hp. We were seeing what boost did. I have close to 5k on this tune I bet. All around 210-215hp. Motor runs great. Just survived another track day. (At 150hp)

I would look at see if there's any way to use the MS3 PRO knock module on your setup. I would guess DIY Autotune probably sells it separately. I'm using it with a VVT knock sensor, and I have confirmed that it WORKS if you setup the knock windowing correct. I like det cans too, they work extremely well but only when you wear them. The knock sensor is nice to have too since it can be up and running all the time when you aren't wearing the det cans. I too need to hook up an EGT gauge.... Same story, have the stuff, forgot to weld it in!

To install the miata knock sensor you'll have to find a spot on the block thick enough to drill/tap and thread it in. I have never looked at a 1.6 Block so I don't know if a suitable spot exist. Easy button would be aftermarket sensor that works with that knock module.

Regarding the windowing, that would be interesting to see what the OEM looks at.

From my experience having a tight window around peak pressure works well. I've updated knock window settings for a couple people on this forum with mine and they reported it worked better than what they were originally running. Of course every motor is different, etc etc. Disclaimer, disclaimer. If you want data on the matter, there are SAE papers on knock that plot pressure vs crank position with peak pressure at various points (and inducing knock too), and from that you can get a better idea of what crank position knock is most likely to occur and adjust your windowing accordingly.

This car isn't leaving the garage in the rain again until it gets new tires. Getting sideways on the freeway in 6th is not something I would like to do again.
Going to buy these this week I think.

I did that once with good tires, I just forgot boost control was on and I hadn't tuned it worth a ****.
I ain't got no fancy 6 speed though.
I was about to splurge on the kumho ecsta's. Less than $300 to get through winter, then nice tires.

Alright I think lighting is figured out.
Hello 60mm projector. It is waterproof. Going to mount it where the turn signal goes right now. Then pull the lense off the turn signal and bolt it back in place. Going to use some sort of small LED as a turn signal. No high beams but I think good well aimed projectors should work well.
Then I can get rid of the stupid pop ups and put my air filter there.
I picked the hella 60mm because they are waterproof and cheap.
