Engine is healthy, Compression tested at 180psi...no leak down test has been done yet thought.

Goal is to make this thing fun in a straight line instead of just the corners and Im thinking 240whp will do that for me

Crappy picture but this is the Detcan I made. The copper tubing, Fittings and clear hose all came from Home Depot. I bought a cheap mechanics stethoscope from Harbor Freight. This thing should work well when it comes to listening for detonation. I had my girlfriend hold the copper piping and scrap her fingernail on it and I could hear it easily. I have yet to drill a hole in it yet for mounting, unsure of exactly where I'm going to bolt it to at the moment

Fireindc 11-17-2012 08:25 PM

Aren't bkr7e's 2 steps colder than stock 1.8 plugs? I remember reading somewhere that stock 1.6 plugs (bkr6e) are 1 step colder for a 1.8.

I doubt it matters at all though, that said - I'm running the same plugs in my 1.6.

Gt2560rMiata 11-17-2012 08:57 PM

My understanding is that they are 2 steps colder than stock, Which is fine with me. I plan to buy some Toyota COPs here soon. went to my local junkyard the other week and couldn't find any. I can get brand new ones for dealer cost but haven't checked how much that would set me back yet

Gt2560rMiata 11-22-2012 03:10 AM

Ordered a blow off valve tonight. Went with a plastic Bosch unit that Audi uses. Bought it new from a European car parts sight (Volvo Parts, BMW Parts, European Car Parts | FCPGroton.com) brand new for $38 shipped. It will be setup for venting to atmosphere. Ill be running Megasquirt so no need to run it recirculated

petrolmed 11-28-2012 01:43 AM

I'm liking this build man, you've got great things going on in here. Let me know how the FIC 650s run for you if you put them in and tune before boosting. I'll be ordering the same very soon and am curious of any differences while still stock. What shall the exhaust setup be?

What did that new t28 cost you if you dont mind me asking?

Thanks for the comments man

Plan is to order a Enthuza 3" exhaust.

The turbo I bought from a member on Zilvia.net for $730 shipped. Which in my opinion is a great price. He might still have a couple of them

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to toss in the injectors/wideband and tune things before I put the turbo goodies on. Im thinking it might actually be possible to get the car to idle/run better than stock because the FIC injectors are a newer style (ev14) than the stockers.

Just got my blow of valve tonight in the mail. Was a little suprised to see its made by "Kayser" instead of bosch. But after a quick internet search it seems that Audi is using Kayser for thier BOVs now. Ive never heard of Kayser but Im not worried at all since this is an OEM BOV from Audi.

Thank you. Stock internals are the reason behind my 20psi gauge lol. If this turbo build goes well, a year from now I might build up a motor for it....we shall see

Well I installed the boost gauge a couple weeks ago. I went to put the dash pod on and realized it looks awful from outside the car. here is a picture of uglyness

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1356907923

So I just put it in the center vent. It looks great and was easy to install. Id swear by the way the gauge fits that mazda intended for people to rip the vents out and stick 2-1/16" gauges in them

Thanks for the Bosch BOV supplier link. I haven't been able to find one that cheap.

I got similar compressor inlet and outlet adapters for my t25 from CXRacing. Just curious if you used any sort of gasket or sealant when installing them?

your welcome. I did a little searching to find a cheap source for the BOV. Iam sort of on a budget here lol

The aluminum turbo inlet I bought has an O-ring. The steel turbo outlet flange I got will need a gasket. Haven't got around to ordering one yet.

The plan is to order an Enhanced Megasquirt 2 from Reverant/MSlabs when I get my tax return next month. Cant wait to get it, I built a MS2 for another car of mine years ago and I loved the damn thing

I want to see how out 650cc FIC's compare. Similar setups, but you'll have a better turbo and MS2 :vash:

200-220 whp keeping power low enough to be able to track/beat on the car without thinking about my stock rods constantly.

The fuel pump upgrade wasn't about getting more fuel. it was about replacing a 18 year old pump. with as much money as I have put in this setup trusting it to the original pump seemed retarded.

Id like to someday build a motor with forged rods/pistons and go for 260whp and not have to buy injectors again. thats why I went larger than I need
