That's a 3/8npt sensor you linked. Not M12

Not a huge fan of that iat sensor location.
don't get me wrong, it is likely fine, but I think it will heat soak way more than it should

That is not an IAT sensor. That is the MAP sensor, the IAT sensor is in the intercooler pipe.

derp. that's what I get for not reading, just looking at pics

Come to find out that previously when I struggled to get the ATI damper on it was due primarily to us destroying the woodruff key in the process which managed to cause the balancer to wobble like crazy. End result, I need a new woodruff key.

did you try to draw it onto the crank with the crank bolt or did you use a balancer installer? The instructions for mine (from FM) say to use the old crank bolt. But my local auto parts store has a free rental of a harmonic balancer installer with the correct thread size...

What I did the first time that ended up destroying the woodruff key, which in hindsight was totally the wrong way to do this, was to line the damper up and slide it on ever so slightly with the woodruff key already lined up. One issue that made this difficult initially was that the clearance on the snout and the inside of the damper are so tight that its extremely difficult to get it to slide on. As I was pushing the damper on I presume it pushed the woodruff key down the snout and to the rear of the damper essentially causing it to "slide up" the rear and behind the damper sandwiching it at the back. Now having put the damper on and taken it off so many times it slides on/ off rather easily. This time we basically used the old crank bolt as you mentioned to push the damper/ woodruff key on together. Worked like a charm.

Alright folks, I know ive allowed this thread to die. Theres good reason for that, I took a new position for work and actually spent the last two years overseas, leaving the miata in a shed to just collect dust.

Well, today we got back after it and got it fired up for the first time. I still need brake lines and a few other little things, but all in all shes running, so thats a plus.

Question, with the SS brake lines, what size fittings are needed for this end of the line?

If those hoses were sold for a Miata, you need inverted flare tube nuts for 3/16" brake lines with M10x1.0mm thread size (e.g. these high-quality ones from SUR&R). Choose a long snout or short snout depending on how many mating female threads are available.

This is assuming you are joining that end of the hose with a hard line. If you are joining it to more SS line, you need the mating hose end to have an inverted flare fitting with male M10x1.0mm threads.

Alright guys, today had its ups and downs. And I'm apparently an idiot....

Went for the first drive in the Miata in over four years (spent two years working overseas so the Miata sat during that time).

Then failure struck.

I apparently used the coolant port from the block as my oil feed to the turbo and was essentially feeding the oil pan with coolant...

So my question is, on the rear of the motor, on the exhaust side, the two ports, 1 coolant, 1 oil. What is the thread size and pitch for the two of them? Are they different or are they the same?

Pics of happiness, and sadness attached.

psyber_0ptix 10-15-2019 07:57 AM

Oil feed is the low one - m10x1.5

Coolant port is above oil feed- m12x1.25
