Oh man, you're local... very local. I'm in the same boat as you right now with building/modding my car to fit into TTE to pester Marcus. I may just keep on tinkering for a "fun" DE car for a while until the rules for next year come out. I had planned on upgrading my sways, and if I do I'll definitely unload them.

That's a hell of a deal you got on that thing too! Bummed I missed that one.

So the '99 this thread was created for is likely going to be a parts car / spare tub for the new race car. Luckily, the two cars are even the same color!

Do you happen to know of any video of those 1:48s at CMP? I guess it's worth asking how much power it makes in ITS trim too.

 

No video of the 1:48s, but those may have been with the VVT motor.

This is from 2014, same car with non-VVt motor. Fastest lap in this video is 1:50.6 I think:

Now that I have three kids...arrive and drive is exactly what I need. I no longer have time for time intensive builds and race prep. I just need a big red easy button...aka build miata race car.

 

Yeah, watching that video I can definitely tell it has quite a bit more power than mine, hah. Hopefully next year we'll be able to make similar power to ITS (140-145).....but without having to do the $3k 0 point engine.

 

I've got a 2 year old and another on the way, I may have to take your direction too haha. It helps that my 2 year old likes to work on the car as much as I do.

 

I just did the exact same thing 3 days ago. Was planning a build at first but found a sorted out miata for a good deal. We shook hands, car is going to be delivered this Saturday. Congratulations on the race car purchase.
