Faefae's New Rape Victim

Thanks to the sagacious advice from this forum, I purchased another NB. Originally I was gonna buy a beamer, but then I bought a Subie Forester XT. Then I realized that since I can do all my own work on my cars (I own a hammer), I would see a fantastic ROI if I had a third car. You see, I have to drive for work. Unlike most of you wannabees, I am a professional driver. I get paid by the mile. And since I have to drive for work, I need a car that works every day of the year.
If you glanced over my build thread for my green car AKA "green dragon", "banshee", "child molester", "failaids" -_- you will see that my turbo miata is only on the road about 10% of the time. That means that if I had a problem with my subie like I did last year, I had to pay to get my car fixed and also pay for a rental. This can cost thousands of dollars. So I bought a $3000 NB. I figure than in 4 years or so, if I keep it fairly reliable (no turbo), and keep subie fairly reliable, I will not have to pay for mechanic labor. Yay. Details on car:
So here are my mod plans. Just a little suspension stuff and appearance stuff '03 Bilsteins with some eibach springs (takeoffs from my turbo miata) tint windows blacken silver on headlights VHT nightshades taillights racing beat dual exhaust (had this lying around from my turbo miata back in the day) '03 header. Maybe. Some shiitty egay intake so I can hear the intake sound i guess Either black 6UL or some baller 17" wheels move my turbo miata sport brakes over (BBK on turbo miata) Angle grinder out all that rust. Strip to bare metal. Paint. Cover up the gaping holes with a nice mazda $200 side sill body kit. And I think that's it. It's surprisingly peppy. Much peppier than an earlier 1.8 I drove. Not too bad at all. Humiliatingly slow in a straight line but I will seriously ----- the everliving hell out of it. Inertia drift and ebrake initiated drifft FTW Here's some crappy pics to get us started https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1332626910 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1332626910 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1332626910 |
Very nice for the price. The poor car has no idea what the ---- it's in for.
|
In for sawzall.
|
Is that your older male lovers townhouse?:makeout:
|
I'd just plasti dip the wheels black and call it a day, or you could paint the wheels white and make it the polar opposite of my car.
|
Has it met the other Miata yet and been warned of what is about to come? I've learned the more vehicles I have the more goes wrong. I almost never had problems when I only had one vehicle. I have four and 2 are down now, the bike needs a clutch and my '97 is the only one being a champ. More vehicles= more things to explode
|
Are those 15" wheels? If so, just keep them, perhaps with a little center cap paint. If you buy 6uls for it, you clearly don't understand the purpose of a beater car.
If they're 14", ignore me, cause 14" tire selection is limited. Even so, there are plenty of 15" wheels you might wanna consider that are cheaper, to save you a couple hundred bucks. Otherwise, nice purchase. Keep it ------- simple. |
Good lord, NB's are getting cheap
|
Tint the tail lights? In a car this size, it seems you want to do everything you can do help people see you, not the opposite.
|
silver 6UL's and some V-maxx shocks are needed.

Shouldn't thread titles be switch to fail 1 and fail 2?
|
Oh you silly fellarrs. I drove my car to tha citaybtonight and damn this shi is pretty darb fun. There is seriously a reason why stock miatas sokd like corollas.
They is fun to drive. 99 is actually fairly ballsy. I think i will name the car POOPLOL |
Gotta have 1 car that runs.. as long as it stays in the garage untouched.
|
Lol @ "----" and "boner".
|
What'd that bartender your where hitting on think of the 'ride'... uh... on second thought - don't answer that.
Wow - $3000 is a hell of a steal - good find! Awesomeness or Faelaids - I'm sub'd :) |
you're seriously going to murder it out?
is this some sort of ironic retro thing you're doing or are you just being tacky and tasteless like some mullet-hair inbred from the shallow south? |
So you are keeping the (modified) Forester XT as the usual daily driver, the black NB is going to be a backup if the Forester is down and the turbo NB is the project car?
|
Min! I just thought of this!!
You have a backup set of 6UL's, right? I assume they're going on the black car... Aside from a backup set of 6UL's, you also have a backup BEGI cast manifold with an external wastegate and a GT3071... Know what I'm thinkin? First and foremost though...Roll Bar. |

I think in a year i will be building the foxzie and putting a siz speed in, going for 500hp or whatever. |
Just hack off the frame rails and do a forester swap to it.
|

This nat asp motor is actually some frikken bombsauce. I actually want to dyno it because it is really ballsy. OK so I started molesting it. Polished the headlights. Before/After https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1332710780 After/After https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1332710780 Baked the light https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1332710780 Popped the shz off. Broke the tabs of course. Notice that the plastic is melted??? Wierd huh? Got plain ol bulbs in it too. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1332710780 Other side https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1332710780 Closeup of melt https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1332710780 Went to get lunch. Looks good Min, but wayyy too much attention to headlights and not enough attention to important things such as oil drain fittings on other miatas.
Since you're all into keeping it NA, I am highly suggesting you put these on: Attachment 38013 Then get a header and make your engine bay look similar to this: Attachment 38014 and maybe, your car will sound like this and still be fun. |
So I take it you didn't pant the insides? Just left it black plastic inside. Might try it. Just haven't decided if the blacked out lights would look good on a silver car.
|
So you had it all taken apart and didnt remove the ugly orange cups?

I really want people in front of me at intersections to be able to clearly see that I am trying to turn. If they don't see it because it's not bright enough that could lead to some serious problems for me. I will be daily driving this so safety and communication is important. Speaking of safety someone sell me a roll bar |
You could simply have unscrewed the orange cups and put in silver/orange turn signal bulbs... (silver when off/ orange when on)
Thats what we do over here... |

Matt did you debadge your front bumper? Aren't there two little holes or did you fill em in?
|
Four little holes, which you can plainly see.
|
Nice job on the lights! I can't get mine that clear. I got them pretty close, but yours look like new, at least from the pictures here. Maybe this miata will fare better than the "child molester".

I did it quick and dirty but suffice it to say if you want to do it right, you have to take the bumper off. in retrospect, the "right" way would have been: 1. remove bumper 2. remove badge (insert badges cliche joke here for the weak-minded) 3. rough up backside of area around holes with 40 grit 4. bond some rough aluminum or something that is contoured to fit *fairly well* onto the backside of the hole area with some super strong epoxy and let it cure a couple days 5. jam the holes full of body filler and when it's "green", remove it to nearly flush. let that cure for another couple days because it WILL shrink. 6. rough up the pretty side of the holes and surrounding area with whatever the body filler recommends 7. skim on the body filler to hide the holes, allow to cure. this should be a thin enough coat that it wont shrink unevenly and leave sink marks. 8. sand, with 180, then 320, then prime with gray primer, 2 coats 9. prime with alternate color primer, 2 coats 10. knock down the primer with a few swipes of 400 on a flexible sanding block. check for high spots (will show up as primer color that went down first). respray a couple layers and re-sand until high spots are good. 11. final sand the primer with 600 12. wet sand the area you are going to paint with 1000 to rough it up for repaint 13. paint / clear 14. wet sand with 1500 until you are happy 15. fine cut compound until you're shocked at how glossy it is hand or DA 16. polish (not wax) by hand or DA 17. wait a month and wash and redo 15-16 as needed 18. wax and roll like a boss. |
Just concerned that the flexible material would allow the bondo to crack.
|
nevermind

Sermed to have worked for you? https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1332795181 the way you're going to want to do it is: 1. drink a whole bottle of pepto (for stool color) 2. press your bare ass up against the four holes 3. try to aim the black into the holes 4. spread as best you can with your finger |

Ok well seriously how about i
1. Put some duct tape behind holes 2. Fill holes with grout 3. Cover rest of bumper with vaseline 4. Spray gloss black on grout 5. Wipe off bumper |
the easy way is to just leave the effing logo there.
|
Easy for you to say, your's is already gone. And you don't have a pitted toilet bowl.

You can just spray bomb the logo matte black and it will look decent.

OK I will plastidip the logos!!!
Sean found me a spiffy NB lip so I'm gonna put it on too. This bitch needs a sway bar too. Who got the hook up? |
I plasti dipped my logo. Just put paper between the logo and the body of the car and give it a few coats.

I have no idea what I did with my stock '99 sways. I think I may have sold them? I don't think I scrapped them...
Then again, what did I do with my stock manifold/ dp/ midpipe/ muffler? I don't really remember selling that stuff, and I don't think I would've tossed any of it. I'm pretty sure I sold the sways...else I'd pretty much give em to ya Min. I don't think I have anything that you would need. Let me know when you want to buy my SR20 T25 next week when you decide to turbo this new car of yours. |
