Dude it's so good to see our soldiers making such good use of their money man. Well deserved and epic build thread. Good to see FM+Uncle Sam taking good care of you.

FRT_Fun 08-01-2009 07:48 AM

Thanks! Honestly dreaming about this car has really helped get my mind off all the BS going on over here. So excited to get home, hopefully before Christmas.

Feel bad for all the guys that save all deployment and waste it all in the first 3 months on
alcohol.

NA6C-Guy 08-01-2009 08:44 AM

Damn you're a real trooper. Come home from war and wage your own war against your car. I would have slept probably. Good to see you got it done though. Looks like a really nice build. Look forward to seeing your winter mods installed.

FRT_Fun 08-03-2009 01:18 PM

Thanks to some good deals in the FS section I now have 550cc RX7 Injectors and a fuel pump. Wasn't really planning on the fuel pump, but why not. Also got some TSIs which I have been debating picking some up for a while now. Really just need a Radiator and some slim fans and I should be good. debating getting a EBC though :/

FRT_Fun 09-12-2009 04:06 AM

Haven't updated this in a bit.. will be starting work AS SOON AS I get home from Afghanistan ~December.

Have and need to install:
-550cc Injectors
-Fuel Pump
-Front Lip
-Front + Rear Subframe Brace
-MegaSquirt
-Turn Signal Intakes
-S68 Seat
-88 RX-7 LSD
-Polyurethane Differential Bushings

Need to Purchase:
-Side Mounts for Seat.
-Slim Fans

Need to Do:
-o2 Signal Simulator.
-Drivers Side Airbag Simulator.
-Reroute the coolant hose for better fitment.
-Clean up random/unnecessary wires/hoses.
-Rewire radiator fans

Thinking About Doing:
-Strip Interior + Paint it black
-Harness Bar + Harness
-Remove Radio and Relocate Heater Controls
-Remove Soft Top
-Paint Hard Top Black
-COPs

Thank you for your service, to both your country & the Miata community, soldier! :bigtu:

i very much enjoyed reading this thread and seeing the pics
it definately helps my decision with wanting the Voodoo2 kit from FM
looked like Christmas at your house
combat pay FTW!!!

FRT_Fun 12-16-2009 05:11 PM

Glad I could help. If you have any questions regarding the kit let me know and I'll do my best to answer. Although FM is usually great with answering all potential customer/customer questions.

Round 2

Well I am gearing up for round 2 with my car. The install list isn't as large as back in June, but there is plenty of work to do.

I also have a bit more relaxed time line, an entire month instead of one week. I am on block leave (aka vacation) for my deployment I returned from in December. It's gonna be freezing. I will employ the friend that helped me last June.

The Parts:

Frog Arms
F+R Sub Frame Brace (949)
Harness Bar
G-Force Harnesses
Frame Rail Stiffeners
Turn Signal Intakes (Need to be repainted + lens repaired first)
Kaaz 1.5way LSD
Polyurethane Differential Bushings
Front Lip
Rear Trunk w/ R Package Lid
Red Valve Cover
New Shift Boot
MegaSquirt
RX-7 Injectors
Fuel Pump

Things to do:
Install parts listed above.
Clean up wiring under steering wheel.
Actually run and secure vacuum hoses correctly.
Install FM Intake Heat Shield, finish bolting down the exhaust shield.
Remove stock seat belts.
Install new cover for the center console storage thing.
Oil Change.
Trans Fluid Change.
Break in differential.
Fix the upside down mazda emblem.

The Pictures:

The Car as it stands now:

Also wanted to thank all the people I have bought stuff with via the classifieds on this site. Saved a lot of money and got some good parts because of it.

FRT_Fun 01-30-2010 09:15 AM

Well I'm back in Chicago, getting ready to start work in 17 degree weather, which I guess isn't toooo bad.

Megasquirt, Inj, Fuel Pump are first on the list.

kotomile 01-30-2010 09:50 AM

Man, you're braver than I am...I wouldn't work on my car in Chicago in January. lol

BTW - is this the car you take in for POV inspections? I love doing that with mine.

"Okay.. power steering fluid level?"
"No power steering"
"alllllright. Where's the windshield fluid on this car?"
"Doesn't have it."
"oookay."...
