Disagree, I say leave it alone. You and Bryan (Dem768) have the best looking cars IMO

18psi 08-06-2012 07:47 PM

Thank you Gentlemen. Hoping someday soon my car will be at least half as awesome as Bryans

Taking my time though, I'm in no rush.

I might black out the badges and throw them on, but keeping them off for now since I already did that on the previous car. Want to try something different with them too, we'll see how that goes. (I have 2 sets so not worried about ruining anything)

Is the forester on a stock 5spd tranny? If so, that sounds like borrowed time.

What are the plans for the new engine build? Full or mild build? One of your previous builds (back in 09 iirc) had a mild built motor that made ~300whp, would you do a mild build again? Do you know if the owner still has the car, or what became of that motor? I only ask all these questions because I'm considering dropping rods into my BP before I swap it in, then running e85+280whp on a gt28.

Braineack 08-08-2012 02:26 PM

if I buy an '11 WRX, can i do that too?

TurboTim 08-08-2012 03:08 PM

I want that in my daily '05 OBXT please.

FXT trans can handle much more than wrx due to the ultra high gearing (4.44fd)

Not sure what I'll do with the vvt motor yet, though I do not plan to make any more than 300-350.

The 00 is alive and well. Brian enjoyed it for a year, then sold it just recently in excellent condition to another guy on here who has it now. At least that I know of.

Had my girlfriends '11 WRX tuned by Vlad, he bumped it up to 17 pounds or so. Can definitely feel the difference. Car looks sexy, I started laying on paint tonight since I'm waiting on engine stuff

EO2K 10-08-2012 11:13 PM

Damn Vald, car looks great! I love how you seem to build the same car over and over again ;)

What would one expect to pay for a paint job like that up in Sacratomato? I've got a nose and a hard top that need a squirt of Mazda 18K and its highway robbery around here.

What's this H3AVY P1G weight at this point?

18psi 10-08-2012 11:22 PM

LOL not the same - this one has teh VEE VEE TEEZ:D

I honestly don't know since my Uncle hooked it up on bodywork and paint at a discount. I WAS quoted 2,000+ by other people though, which I thought was highway robbery.

Weight on this bad boy is probably that of a stock 2001 SE, so not as heavy as I make it seem. I've added some weight (like the dynamat), but I took away some weight too (suspension, hardtop without soft top, lighter wheel, no air bags). I'd say 2400-2500 soaking wet if I had to guess.

lsc224 10-09-2012 10:15 AM

Nice clean car! Looks like DEM768's car! Loving it. My car looks like shit compared to yours. :D

wowmiata 10-11-2012 03:04 AM

this thread is pretty much exactly what i want to do with my car. i want to keep it looking very clean and also making it fast.

where did you get the dynomat you used?

18psi 10-11-2012 08:30 AM

Thanks

Got that stuff from ebay. 100sq/ft was almost double what I needed. So if you're just doing 1 miata I'd recommend 50sq/ft.

Efini~FC3S 10-11-2012 03:32 PM

send me the other 50sq ft for my NVH disaster Forester XT?

I can payz?

18psi 10-11-2012 03:38 PM

lol already used it on mine sorry

only have like 15 left

Efini~FC3S 10-11-2012 04:19 PM

Which stuff did you get and would you recommend it?

Planning on doing a bunch on my XT, getting sick of the awful NVH.

18psi 10-11-2012 07:12 PM

zillamat. and yes. but I'd say it helps more with rattles/squeeks/tin-can feeling/resonance more than sound itself. For that stuff you want the foam from RAAMaudio or whatever.

One of my good buddies is an automotive NVH engineer, I'll see what he says and then go from there.

Thanks for the info

Which EFR? Are you going to reuse that T3 flanged ETD or are you building another T25 manifold? Jesus christ... T3 flanged EFR 7064 maybe?

18psi 10-17-2012 08:50 AM

lol its a long ways away, so I have a lot of time to figure out which one is "for me" while I enjoy this Disco Potato setup.

I will be observing quietly in the background as more EFRs are tested, possibly the trackspeed kit comes out, and carefully plan out my ALLOFIT build. For right now I can honestly say that 200-230 would be perfect on this thing, I don't need any more for daily driving, and have a MUCH faster car for when I need my fix:)

Yeah, okay. We'll see how long that lasts

I bet you'll spend long nights lying awake in bed thinking about what turbo to run. Seriously. Precision turbos w/ billet comp. wheels for 900, Borg Warnet ext. tip turbos for 700 and the new S/sx series with EFR billet comp. wheels for just over a grand, etc.. . It's like candy land for people with T3 flanges :giggle:

Alright well the progress is slower than a snail, mainly because I'm just driving the car daily and not wanting to worry about anything at all. Also because its an extremely busy time of the year for me and I just don't have the time to tinker with the car.

Loving the dead reliability of the car, but dreading the stock power levels.

In the very near future I'll be changing all the oils in the car, so I had a friend (who is a dealer) get me some Amsoil fluids:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1353219267

That should take care of engine, trans, and rear end.

Next I picked up a set of ID1000's:
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1353219267

Next on the list after that: Megasquirt MS3x:party:

18psi 11-21-2012 10:30 PM

Changed all the oils today. I don't know if its a placebo effect, but transmission ALREADY feels a good deal more smooth on the way from the shop.

The real test will come on monday when I have to go to work and its sat overnight and super cold. It shifts like butter when hot, but absolutely SUCKS when cold.

EO2K 11-27-2012 12:49 AM

How are the seats working out? Any regrets? Did you take any pictures of the mountings? Mine are in very sad shape and I can't seem to find anyone with a decent NB1 set that they want to part with, so I'm looking at options. I have an old Sparco Sprint in the garage, but it dislikes me and the feeling is mutual.

18psi 11-27-2012 08:13 AM

I'm back on stock NB2 seats. I'm too big to fit into any aftermarket bucket and be comfortable on my morning commute to work @ 4AM, so I sold them. They felt great, night and day over stock, but hard to get in/out of (as any race bucket is) and just didn't cut it for me overall. Lesson learned: don't buy aftermarket buckets unless RACECAR.

I'll be selling these real good condition NB2 seats soon too though;)
Have a set of NB1's just re-upholstered with brand new genuine leather that will be going in.

EO2K 11-27-2012 12:23 PM

I kinda feel the same way. I had to take a high-lift jack to the Sparco to "open" it slightly so my ribcage would fit comfortably. The seat is awesome at the track where I feel like my body is bolted directly to the car, but daily driving or distance its a bit overkill. I can't spread my legs AT ALL and the 'boys' don't appreciate it on any kind of roadtrip.

I'll be driving through Sac on the 14th, 16th, 21st and 25th. Whatchoo want for dem NB2 seats?

I seriously considered going 2 tone black and tan in the interior and getting a set of 2 tone Katzkins to match, but then I remember I'd probably just ruin the leather and then feel bad.

flying_solo 11-27-2012 12:55 PM

I have a set of NB1s I may be willing to trade but I'm sure shipping sucks.

I have that same kit but 2.5" pipe. It was a big mistake on my part but you'll love the smaller size. How do you plan to route it?

18psi 12-02-2012 02:44 PM

Same way I routed my previous 2.5" one: behind headlight (like MSM) for hotside and traditional cold side.

What was a mistake on your part? the 2.5" piping?

Fireindc 12-02-2012 03:29 PM

Yes, hard to route on a NA with PS and AC. I had to cut my fender well to route it and I did a horrible job just to throw it together. Car was cheap so it didn't bother me but i really wish I went another route. I plan to get a new tub and swap everything over because its been in a front end wreck and my body barley lines up, no reason to have a badass paint job when the car has been damaged like mine has. I'll do whatever it takes to get it half as sexy as yours ;)

EO2K 12-02-2012 03:59 PM

Me rikey! Get good pics of the install this time, I want to see how badly I failed at everything.

piping showed up today

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1354755729

its tiny in diameter. like barely 2". but otherwise the quality is great (very thick alum), couplers are good, and clamps are good.

I think I'll be the 1st on here (that I know of) to runn full 2" fmic piping. lol

triple88a 12-05-2012 09:39 PM

Man thats very nicely wrapped. Much better than what i got from the idiots at silicone intakes.

The morons just put a pipe in a box. Both ends were banged up. Luckily i didnt need all of it and cut the bad parts out.

slmhofy 12-05-2012 11:09 PM

And did you request black couplers with the auction? Just asking because all the auctions I've seen come with blue.
