Now that I kinda sorta started modding my soon to be daily driver 01, I think I'll be keeping track of all the mods and what not.
As everyone knows, this is not my 1st rodeo, with previous miata's/setup's documented here: https://www.miataturbo.net/build-thr...finally-31240/ https://www.miataturbo.net/media-53/...tochute-44414/ https://www.miataturbo.net/build-thr...d-setup-49710/ https://www.miataturbo.net/media-53/...-u-gay*-50838/ https://www.miataturbo.net/media-53/...C%5C%5C-55903/ https://www.miataturbo.net/media-53/...obile-d-56777/ https://www.miataturbo.net/media-53/...*sniff*-56921/ https://www.miataturbo.net/build-thr...en-8%3D-60039/ Among MANY other show off/picture threads:giggle: So anyway, after aborting my LS1 swap project on the green one due to stupid nazi CA laws and regulations, I just had to have another miata. And it had to be white with black interior, and it had to be 01+ (vvt), and it had to be 6sp, and it had to have a torsen 3.9, and all SE bracing, and SE brakes, SE almost everything, and be in good shape. Obviously ALL that is hard/impossible to get in 1 package, so I basically MADE myself an 01 white SE with black interior. INTRODUCING: the PIG https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1342932127 Got it with a wee bit of bumper/hood damage and replaced those. Swapped in engine/trans/suspension/brakes/basically everything from one of our SE parts cars: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1342932127 Painted it: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1342932127 |

More mods to come, though I wont be boosting it for at least a few months: too much other stuff going on.
So anyways, that's it for now. |
Where have I seen this before??
|
In my 1st and 2nd build threads? Though that was a 2000
Or are you talking about Dem's car? I already told him many times we have twins lol Though his is going to be a monster, and mine just a fast daily |
In for the win! Will keep an eye on this thread, i know good things are coming. What's your WHP goal this time?
|
Thanks.
250 on stock motor 350 on built motor...Maybe more, we'll see. e85 of course |
Good looking turbo setup. Essentially a T3 y8's setup, right?
I'd be interested in seeing a dyno comparison of the T2 vs T3 housings on this turbo. If it's anything similar to y8's car you should breeze past 250whp |
I like. Very similar concept to my car, less track pig and more liveable. It's my 5th MX-5, damn this disease...
|
It looks like you're already off to a great start with the new ride. Also, I didn't know you're FXT was the same color as mine heh.
|
i definitely should have bought your last car. Which ever one it was. Damn sexy. What recardo knockoffs are those? Size/offset wheels? Rays works with konig?!
In for the big turbo win! |

Which is why I'm setting the "limit" to 250 til I build. Technically this should make more on the top end while giving up maybe 100rpm worth of spool or something. At least thats what I HOPE. Fingers crossed.

In for the big turbo win! The seats are made by NGR, are suede, black with red stitching, and are: lower width 21 mid width 18 upper width 21 height 33 They definitely fit, but I'm actually considering other seats right now: some corbeaus, or some bride viosIII low max. Not sure if I'll run these yet. |
Surprise build ftw. Looks like a great start man. Did you put that manifold together?
|
Do I get to check this beast out when I come today? Also I have the same wheels, and I love them. Are they the 15x8? I have Toyo R888s on them.

No, the mani is an ETD long tube. They stopped making manifolds for our cars years ago iirc. Really good quality piece though, I'm really excited to give it a shot.

And yeah same wheels as yours: I actually was the "1st buyer" for your wheels but changed my mind because the tires were a bit expensive and non daily driver friendly for my taste. |
Looks like a great start. Can't wait to see it come together.

Subbed.

I'd rock both those. someone build one and sell it to me cheap.
|
You might as well build that engine now instead of waiting!
Nice turbo btw!!! |

Those wheels look great on the white car. I really like those. What size tires did you end up using?
|
205/50/15 Falken Ziex 912
They're no RS3, but will be driven year round, are soft and quiet. So far I like them a lot. (1 day of use lol) Needs an alignment among other things. |
|
Call me...maybe
|
Really diggin' the wheels. I was planning on 6ULs for auto-x HPDE but these are cheaper and I like the look as well or better....hmmmmmm

Nice. I'm thinking seriously about doing something sorta like this. Take a 99, mild motor build, copy the supercharger/radiator/intercooler setup from my SSM car, dynamat the snot out of it, HIDs, nice stereo, etc...

reclining seats? you're modding the wrong car. should have a 3500lb <insert domestic boat here> instead.
|
Already have a boat. See pics a few posts back. Its 3300lbs and awesome. Have similar seats in that too, though those are authentic ///SUBARU:D
Eh, Stockers are about as supportive as a park bench, and I just couldn't get myself to buy a fixed back bucket for a daily.Plus I'm fat (36" waist is snug in a viosIII) These really don't weigh that much either. At least not any more than stockers |

And I also agree on the Brides. I'm 5'10 ~ 190lbs and they're a little too snug for me. |

Looks awesome.
Do the seats restrict travel/headroom? |
---- me your car is clean.
|
The good news is that you won't have to change your sig pic when you sell it
How do you like them seats? I'm surprised how well they fit, I was thinking they were going to be a bit snug or is it just the camera angle? |
Thanks everyone.
The seats are from a local place. You can probably find them online somewhere too though. They are very snug. Basically if I was any taller than I am I wouldn't fit. They were also a huge PITA to make fit. Fabricated my own rails/mounts which took forever and a half. |
Straighten the steering wheel before you take interior pics.
|
For anyone looking for the seats, they look to be these:
2x JDM BLACK CLOTH RECLINABLE DUAL SLIDERS SPORT RACING BUCKET SEATS SET | eBay 18psi - Can you give any insight on how well they fit in the car? You mentioned you couldn't be any taller or they wouldn't fit, so about how tall/big are you? Because of you're size, can you still recline in them? Do they rub the door cards? Thanks! |
i love it, you better keep this one, i wish i had money when brian sold your old one....

Thanks. Definitely planning to hold on to this one longer than the last one:)
Definitely missed it about a week or two after getting rid of it. I am 5'9 and their biggest problem is not being able to slide back nearly as much as fixed back buckets and stockers. My feet are pretty short, and are RIGHT on the pedals when sitting inside, any closer and I'd be screwed. The way they are in the pics are the maximum they will slide back. Period. Also I cannot stress enough how much of a PAIN it was making the rails/sliders/seats come together correctly on the bottom. Took us something like 9 hours trying different approaches and messing with them to get everything to work. Otherwise they look great, feel very VERY supportive, and I like em. Definitely a big improvement over stock, without a doubt. That's pretty much it. Also, MOAR: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1344126852 su2 by Max Denisevich, on Flickr https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1344126852 m16 by Max Denisevich, on Flickr https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1344126852 su1 by Max Denisevich, on Flickr https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1344126852 m15 by Max Denisevich, on Flickr |
Need to get the other halfs subie shot, just clay bared and waxed it. I'm very tempted to drive it back up there and have you flash it. Car looks ------- clean, can't wait to get mine painted

I love those seats, they fit in with the interior VERY well. Subie is looking nice as well, I'm still looking for a 4 door truck replacement and an FXT is high on the list. |
just lol @ your tires.

Not really. And yes they're all seasons: Falken Ziex 912 or something. Had a lengthy convo on another forum and decided to go with em because not racecar and will be driven year round.
Big thing for me is softness and quietness which these seem to excel at, and provide somewhat decent traction. Downside is of course they're no RS3 and most report them wearing down faster than advertised. I'll fux wid em and ditch em if I don't like em. |
You like it soft and quiet, I like it harsh and wide.
Spinning wheels in 4th will be cool, I guess. |
Well when I eventually get on your power level again I plan to mount hoosiers or something similar on a pair of the stock 15's for those times I gotta back up my talk with some walk;)
