In Which I Build A Street Car
There will be no formal format for this thread. You all can deal with it.
Car in question is a 99. I already bought tires. 205/50-15 VR1s. Does ANYONE have pictures of the 15x8.5 Hypergrams wearing either a 205/50 or 225/45 on an NB WITHOUT rolled fenders? Car is nice, would like to avoid a roll. Tires are wide, 8.5" width is appropriate. Hypergrams are pretty, me gusta. Car has Xidas. Have camber, will travel. 205/50 VR1 unmounted vs 225/45 RS4 mounted on 15x9. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4311/...e75e1358_c.jpg 205/50 VR1 unmounted vs 225/45 RS4 mounted on 15x9 by concealer404, on Flickr Also: Bought TRS H1 HID retrofit. Hrm. Do they work in my other build thread?
This was the direct short link to the photos in my Flickr page. If i use the actual BBCode link, it ends up double posting everything in here because this site's coding is hot trash and seems to have a Flickr-specific plugin that only serves to make me irate that i have to post things differently here than ANYWHERE ELSE on the entire internet. |
I fixed them pitchers real good-like.
|
Nobody owns Hypergrams you weirdo, we're all god fearing 6ul loving folk here.
I've been running 225/45 RS3 on x9 on my NB for years with no need for a roll, and fwiw this is fairly common. Are your bastard rims like 0 offset or something? I don't understand why you think there will be an issue. |
I don't have 225s, i have 205s. I did also fit a 15x9 225/45 setup on Hater without any roll.
But these are 205s, and 6ul 15x8 offsets look like hot dumpster fire on NB. The Hypergrams are 15x8.5 +25. |
Wut? I have +35 offset Enkei PF01's with 205/50/15 Conti ECS's and they are flush with the fenders and -2.5 of camber...

I had +36 15x9 Longerdongers with 225/45 and they were "flush" with miles of clearance, no roll. By math, your setup would have been 1" more "sunk" (or whatever the kids say) from my setup. Not interested. |
he just wants to be herrafush, with an inch of poke for CR cred
just stop beating around the bush and go zero offset already, breh |
My "race car" is hellapoked and it's beyond disgusting.
15x10s do not fit under anything resembling stock body no matter what anyone says. All i'm looking for is the "fitment" of the old 15x9 +36 225/45 setup on Hater. Just with 205/50 tires, without gross stretch. Shouldn't be hard. |
I can comment that a 15x8 +0 with a 205 v720 up to the bumpstops, no rub even nearing full lock, fits under stock NA body, just have to actually know how to use a roller and be patient. Very patient. With good...forearm strength.
That is about ass herrafrush as it gets. Like, bordering on poke, settle for a +25, on a NB can maybe get away without a roll. It'll be tight..real tight. |
Yes.
15x8 +25 205/50 is verified to fit on NB without roll. The question is. As stated before: Does 15x8.5 +25 fit provided you're ok with running -2.5 degrees camber. (I am.) |
Easily. Thought you were doing 225 for some reason.
|
it will be fine

This sounds suspiciously like Hater again.
|

like me :) |
WEIRD.
|
BUT HATER IS RACECAR?!
|
He built a race car for his race car so he can race while he race
duhh |
Wait til you see my next WEIRD TRICK after this car is done.
|
install a turbo backwards because 100kpa is entirely too much boost for your car?
|
Backwards turbo = negative boost? Becausestreetcar? :robert:

Ok ok, fine. MY 15x10s don't.
Which... i swear i will get measurements today. Been trying to clean the car before i tear it apart in the garage. Fenders and doors are absolutely destroyed from the brake issues. Don't think it's salvageable. Passenger front wheel also trashed from brake issue. Feels bad. |
Don't act like you don't love mexiflush

I have my stock nb1 injectors if youre on the prowl.

Car maybe probably might need a fuel pump.
Do we like this one? https://www.amazon.com/Denso-950-011...5%3A2470955011 I bought the DW100, with some piece of crap sock and then had to shell out a high percentage of the original expenditure to get a stock sock (as the big boys say it's the only one to have). So, did you get it and did the sock look like a stock sock? Side note: you can have my NB1 injectors. I will ship them to you for $10 total price. |
I didn't get it yet. I think Boileralum has a stock pump laying around that we might slam into the car to see if it works. And if it does, i may very well go ahead and buy the Amazon one anyways. This is a super nice car that we're planning on keeping for a very long time, so i don't mind "baselining" it to a greater extent than i normally would, otherwise.
I would love those injectors. :) PM incoming! |
I still have the factory rear spoiler I took off mine if your new car doesn't have one and you feel the need.

: 2) 1.125 or 1.25" Racing Beat front sway bar : I originally had the 1.25" bar and switched to the 1.125" bar after recommendations from other users. It's surprising how much extra room becomes available with the slightly smaller bar - VERY important when it comes to intercooler plumbing routing (cold side in particular). Also, you'll need the Racing Beat Bolts&Braces kit or chunky sway bar mount brackets with these bars (especially the 1.25" bar) because they'll tear the OEM brackets right off: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...3ae41513ce.jpg Note: This is NOT a Racing Beat sway bar but is a great photo of what will happen to the OEM bracket with a stiffer sway bar. The RB blocks are a bit of a PITA since you have to take them out if you're trying to use the long bolt method to swap suspension. That said, that PITA is preferable to the PITA in the picture above...
I'm running the 1.125 bar with the blocks. |
Ben, did you buy @thirdgen car, or just his engine? Trying to consolidate his "finally figured it out" thread and this one, in my head.
|
Thirdgen still has his miata. He just sold all the guts. I got the turbo setup. I think philly miata may have bought one of the shortblocks? I'm not sure.
I didn't know concealer had bought anything. |
I'll never sell my car, still has the original bp in it...k20 is on a stand and I have a box of parts. What's up...

I'm kind of hesitant to post this, in case I'm still mixed up. But I can only learn. EDIT: Nope that's Twodoor in MS. No response needed. |

I had the dumb and I apologize for bringing you into this. Ben said he has Twodoor's old car and I mixed up names. Also, you are now in Mississippi now, right? He was saying he was going to MS to pick something up.

Ugh I'm jelly. Car looks great!
|
56k mile cream puff. ;)
Purple car just recently got over 100k as well. Love me some low mile NB1s. |
That's not the anniversary edition is it?
I would have loved to hold out for one of those, but I think I did pretty well for my price range and the location. I really didn't want to have to travel to get something though I might have rethought that now. Would have been nice to get a car with a 6 speed and torsen from the start... The cost probably would have evened out. Oh well, it was a good learning experience! Congrats on the get! |
Nah it's a 99 Twilight Blue LS package. Much more subdued blue, and a (boo! Hiss!) tan leather interior.

And heck yes to low mileage NB1s! Mine was at like 103k miles when I got it! |
Yeah i dunno. It has a 6spd, Torsen, small tupperware, and isn't Red. Beyond that.... i don't know or care about much, how they come.

Yours is super nice. Hater.... isn't. The $2000 price tag i got it for was pretty fitting.

I bet you have the 3.9 ratio too ya schmuck! Where did you find it? I should probably take this to PM huh.. |
No, the only way to get a 6spd in 99 was with the 10AE. This was a 5spd 4.30 Torsen car that had a 6spd dumped in.
|
Semi truck tree stump pullin gearing goodness
|
Sucks with turbo from what i remember from the last time i was in this car 3 years ago.
|
lol I remember in my '00 with the 2860rs I couldn't even hit full boost in 1st
|
I'm pretty sure that's the case here. It has the big 2860r with a Tial vband housing.
