Sounds pretty good man! Congrats. I'm digging the setup, any more details on the mani/downpipe? IIRC i saw sturovo's thread at one point, is he making setups now?

Pepino 02-07-2014 05:08 PM

Yes he's doing now, ask him for info... ;)

any comments?

carnut169 02-15-2014 09:41 AM

Looks great! I'll be making a similar heat shield for my setup.

Wow Giuseppe, that looks fantastic! You have a great eye for details, well done :vash2:

I particularly like shiny heat shields and in this shot we also get see how clean and tidy the engine bay is.
It is hard to imagine this car is more than 20 years old. :)

Nice pics dude, we are neighbours, I'm from Spain.

Have you taken it to the dyno? HP?

Pepino 02-18-2014 08:35 AM

nope, it's still in progress, 1.8 fly wheel with exedy s1, EBC with hi/low switch and some fine tuning...

lower at 7psi, higher at 12psi, bumps are from an interference on ms2 now resolved...
at hi boost the limit is the stock 1,75" exhaust

Fireindc 04-21-2014 02:38 PM

Good lord man, get a bigger exhaust! That is some seriously late spool from a td04

maybe also a leaking bov? i got this one wornkig on recirculating config

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1398157074

Pepino 07-01-2014 07:46 AM

back with a little trouble, i am using a recirc bov like that one above,

but even at lower spring rate and setting, when over 8/9 psi turbo goes surge (or maybe flutter?) on off-throttle...

solution? get a sequential bov? hks or some cheaper (!) but good copy?

sixshooter 07-01-2014 12:13 PM

That's not unusual.

Where is the signal line connected? And is the bov before or after the intercooler?

Pepino 07-01-2014 12:45 PM

Signal line is just after the TB and the BOV is after the IC

here the sound

sixshooter 07-01-2014 02:01 PM

Yes that is more prominent than I would have expected at your low boost levels. Could you take a picture of the blow off valve as it is mounted currently? Where are you recirculating to?

Pepino 07-01-2014 02:16 PM

you can see it in the vid on first message up here...

just now i did some mods: cut spring by 1/3 and disconnect recirculating plumbing (was to inlet hose pre-turbo) and the result is quite fine, just a low and short fluttering at low rev/boost...

sixshooter 07-01-2014 02:34 PM

The blow off valve was probably waiting for you to hit a manly pressure like 20 or 25 psi.

Pepino 07-02-2014 04:21 AM

LOL, anyway a quick question: are sequential bov quicker than recirculating ones?

GV1390 07-02-2014 08:44 AM

Ciao Giuseppe,

Che bella machinna, la mia e bianco pure con il 1.6! De quale parte en Italia sei? Noi siamo de Calabria.

talking about EGT, ho that probe will work in you experience?

i was scared about drilling/tapping/welding a cast manifold so i used egr plug but it looks to me that would be too close to exhaust port...

Good. It would overheat if you didn't.

Why so much timing at idle? Curious as isn't the consensus 10-14* is preferable for a stable idle?

my 1.6 likes that, i can idle at 16 afr but not under 20/22 advance...
