Just not worth having a crappy one in my experience. Too much hassle having it crack all the time. That and if it takes out your motor or turbo. Do it!

 

Are you sure you have the sleeves in all the correct position? There are some bushings with with the same outer diameters and similar lenfth in the kits. You might have the bushings/sleeves for the rear-lower-outer bushings in the inside position. Also the front-upper-inners also have a lager through bolt.

Got the engine bay completely stripped out and ready for painting. Almost decided against it until I found this




Really glad Im going ahead with the repaint

Treated the rust with some galv paint and wet sanded the whole bay

My Dad will hopefully paint it for me this weekend




I'm selling my dirt bike to fund some new wheels and other car bits will be sad to see it go

 

If you haven't already, check further down the frame/tunnel under the master cylinders. I had the same issue and the brake fluid made it's way all the way down.

Thanks I will be sure to check. My dad is planning to paint it tomorrow exited for a shiny bay again! Brake fluid is nasty stuff. Have new brake and clutch cylinders on the way. Sold my bike too hopefully

Looking at boundary oil pumps will a street pump be ok for this mild build? Goal is 250-300whp. I will build my spare at some stage next year and get street/strip for that. thoughts? It seems better than oem

This job definitely required patience but I'm looking forward to a clean smell coming out of the vents.

Just waiting on some new foam tape and the sound deadening then I can re install.

Thoughts on dash keep the na one or do the nb swap?

I have two nb dashes in reasonable condition and the na one I removed had a good crack in it. Can get a new one through my parts guy in mint condition. I do fear that if I do get a new na one it might crack anyway because of brittle plastic. The nb dashes are a lot more forgiving.




My Girlfriend is going to make me some of these not sure they would go too well with the nb dash though although I haven't seen them paired up.

Has been pretty slow going with the car. Super busy with work/house renovation.

Got most of the sound deadening in





Found that cutting it with scissors wasn't too bad.<br/>And the smoothtng it out with the end of a screw driver. Time consuming work though

Looks good! I'm debating sound deadening myself, I'm not sure if it's worth the cost though.

I'll also be stealing Jeff's idea for the HVAC box too, seems like it works well.

 

All up so far around $200 nzd seems reasonable.

Really excited to not have a smelly heater system its easy enough to do just time....

Removing the rubber bushings from the sway bar end links was the worst part of the poly install





Before on the left cleaned on the right. Didn't pull them apart to re grease them because I did it when I installed the torsen.

Decided to stick with the na dash. Getting the new uncracked one soon. Still have to paint the steering column and dash frame.





My certification plate for modifications. Sorry for crappy pic. In New Zealand you have to get your car certified for changing almost anything on your car. Adjustable suspension wheels even... its not the best system. About 10-15 years ago you could do almost anything to your car as long as it passed its warrant of fitness (WOF) now you can't change your car if it doesnt match the cert plate. Even reverting it back to stock.

Still waiting on oil pump etc and ball joints.

My Wheels (15x8 Advantis) should be here this week or early next week!

So when I take mine in, some time next year, to get certed, I have to include the hardtop attached for certifying? And that is then noted as detachable on the plate/paperwork?

Yeah basically how you are going to drive it. The laws have gotten much stricter over the last 10 or so years. I hardly doubt they would pull you up on a hardtop as they come factory, you can choose what to get certified too wof shops don't always pick up on everything. I don't want to give insurance an opportunity to void my cover though.

Its really hard to be motivated when its this cold.
