It's welded to the parcel shelf. It's going back to get redone, it's also too high. I can't imagine why you would weld to a piece of floppy tin.

 

The motor is mostly back together, and the Mazdaspeed manifold with it's tiny Mitsubishi turbo is on. It has a 3" downpipe and straight through muffled exhaust. I hope it still doesn't over boost now. Last time the wastegate couldn't cope with the big free flowing 3". Since then I have ported the wastegate.
