Fuckballs. What a terrible ******* day. Won't be over for a long time, either.
The car is fine, and my family is fine. This is the story.
When we moved to New Zealand for a year, our best friends kept our dog for us. Their older dog died during that time period. Our dog basically has two families now, and they regularly come and visit him. He's slowly dying of *** cancer, and just in general getting old and slow, but he's in good spirits mostly and still has good quality of life.
They now have an 11 month old Scottish Collie. The Collie is a skittish dog. They brought her over today (not for the first time) to get further acclimated to us and to our house and to our two dogs, since we'll be watching herfor them in the future. They left her with us for a few hours today for socialization purposes.
As can be seen in various photos of my car in the driveway, we have a gate. About a month ago the gate was crashed into by one of my childrens' friends on a scooter. It stopped latching properly.
I replaced the mechanism with a new one, and thought it was working properly. Day before yesterday I was informed it still wasn't always latching. Yesterday was the Driver Skills training day, I was there from 6:20am to 5pm, after which we went immediately to dinner, after which I was beat.
You can see where this is headed. Ms Mobius let Truffle and our Golden Retriever, Chester, into the back yard. The gate was ajar. The dogs went out front.
Despite best efforts with calm voices, treats, etc, we were unable to collar Truffle. I had one chance to grab her, missed, and she bolted.
Two hour search ensues. Various sightings are reported and listed on neighborhood message boards.
Then I get the message:
"She's been found"
"Hit on I-84"
"En route to vet ER"
We currently have no list of injuries, other than that at this point they're simply trying to stabilize her and her breathing due to a tear in a lung. In addition, because of course there was, there was a rear-end collision on I-84 involved.
So ... ****.

That's messed up, sorry to hear it man. I hope the little guy makes.
I've had to make a call in the middle of the night to owners of two dogs we've been asked to watch to tell them one was on life support at the vet after it started having trouble breathing. Turned out it had a cancer in the throat and it blocked air pathway. He didn't make it and I cried while explaining it to the owner face to face and returning leash, pad, etc. Hope you have better luck. I have a soft spot for animals, no shame in admitting it.

So these lovelies have become mine, along with wiseco rings. 8.6 to 1 supertechs. Will be getting all the coatings. Install date indeterminate, maybe this coming winter, but more likely winter 2019-2020.
The garage of Mobius will be getting torn down and rebuilt this summer, so that's the big project for the year. I-Beam gantry crane for engine pulls has been approved. This is likely the only garage you know that has needed structural to sign off.

She went home Friday 3/9 after having her left hip relocated. She's doing fine other than she's somewhat laid up from the surgery so they have to carry her up and down the stairs.
It appears our homeowners insurance is going to cover part or possibly all of the vet bill, which is unexpectedly awesome.
We were never able to get any info on the people involved in the car accident, so that may just dissipate into the ether, which is also unexpectedly awesome.
Clear skies and sunny today, going to head down to AR Auto Service and have lunch with Curly & Greddygalant and the rest of the boys.

I don't see any need to change anything in my engine other than pistons and stem seals. Everything else should be fine.
Since the original engine build happened in a different thread I'll summarize
CNC head, +1mm exhaust valves, SUBS
ARP head studs
Manley rods
ACL race bearings
BE pump
ATI superdamper
rotating assembly balanced
Supermiata water pump
Skunk2 TB
Squaretop intake manifold port matched to S2TB
ev14 550cc injectors
DW200 fuel pump
So other than the stock pistons and the injectors, it's good to go.

Spent some time reworking the frontal airflow. Before this work, this shot would have shown you the "mouth" airguide, and intercooler. It was basically sealed. Now there's lots of radiator showing. I still have to work on escape avenues for the air off to the sides etc, but I have high hopes for the increased cooling effectiveness of these mods.
Items modified: Mouth air guide, Plastic bumper crash beam, cross beam behind plastic crash beam.

Yes, yes, I saw this. You eliminated all the things.
I'm still, at this point, with this car, committed to keeping the airbag functionality intact. And keeping a stock bumper intake. Given that, the mods I made, I think, will drastically improve radiator airflow.
I will still have leakage all over the sides and stuff. But before, basically the mouth fed the intercooler fed the radiator. The entire upper half of the radiator wasn't getting fresh air. That's opened up now, it's not perfect, I'ma gonna plastic weld me up my own mouth here in a bit, but for now, it's tons better than what I had before and I think would handle 95deg days with the vented hood.
I'm not ready for where you're ready to go. Which, honestly, isn't surprising really, given it's the same thing I told your mom.

Hah. Nice comeback try. Your mom and me is, I'm pretty sure, age appropriate, and god damn would she have a good time.
But your dad bought you a ******* TSE engine on the surprise. So ... I got nothing on your families. It is, apparently, the ****. My only hope now is to out-tow-vehicle the **** out of you at MRLS (?RLS) 2018.
Or, to completely and totally win the who brings the bestest beer to ?RLS 2018. I can totally do either of the above. Looking forward to it regardless.
