Talking Maya the Miata

Hello,

My name is Nic and I thought I would begin with a build thread to document my progress with my Miata. After working my butt off with my car detailing business and bike shop gig I managed to amount enough money to buy my first car at 15. After lurking through craigslist and all the forum classifieds including this one I came across the car I have deemed Maya. She is a 1993 Brilliant Black with only 50k miles and a bunch of sweet mods. When I purchased the car it had: Flyin Miata Stage 2.5 suspension kit (Sway Bars, Shocks, Drop Hats, Bumpstops), Full Stainless Flyin Miata Exhaust and Highflow cat and Racing Beat Header, Harddog Double diagonal roller, Hawk HPS + and Stainless lines. The previous owner also dynoed the car before and after the exhaust system when in and it produced a whopping 100 peak whp woohoo. Since purchasing it in September 2018 I added Nardi Torino 330mm deep corn wheel and a MiataRoadster Tall Angled Shifter powdercoated black. For maintenance I switched the oil over to Rotella T6 5w-40 which I can not advocate for enough it got rid of all lifter tick (OMG ON A MIATA?) My future plans this summer are to drive the poop out of it and do some maintenance such as addressing the oil that is spilling out along the left side of block on head gasket :( . I also am thinking of dropping the rear subframe having it sandblasted and powder coated and then wire wheeling any surface rust under the car and then POR15 plus spray undercoating. Although nothing is rotted or rusty inside the rockers Im paranoid living by the beach they might start to rust. While working on the subframe Im going to run SADfab delrin kit as a while I'm under there mod. My biggest concern is the head gasket right now but I will have that addressed before my first Limerock autocross day this summer. I absolutely love this car and plan on keeping it for many years as such with thee laborious and expensive mods. My plan is to do supporting mods that will aid the car at N/A power until a couple of years later following college when I have the funds to go turbo. Some mods already in the pipeline are Polk Db652's which should be here by the end of the weekin preparation for Mayas return to the road once the salt dissipates. Unfortunately I didn't purchase the 6uls with the car and thus am going to order Jongbloed racing series 500 in bronze which I think will go well with the car. I also need to fix the soft top window as its cracked and Im going to take hardtop off in summer. Apart from that Im just going to be enjoying the car and also doing a road trip this summer in Maine which should be great. I will dump some images below of Maya in all her glory. I will keep this thread updated mostly for personal use and to enjoy the comments this thread will receive like; OMG your so dumb Jongbloeds suck, 6ul copy and there so HEAVY. But also if anyone has constructive advice drop it below.

Cheers, Nic
