Wow crazy thread! Can't believe I didn't see this sooner! I did a feature on a 93F and 96 a few months ago and these cars are really something to see in person. Can't wait to see how yours turns out!

I never really knew anything about 96, but a local Portland shop runs a couple of them in the regional rallies. Keep up the work!

Stein 05-02-2013 05:58 PM

Not bloody likely. I might show up for a bit but won't dyno stock 335 and I know what the Miata does already.

Yes. I wish I would have taken his suggestion and went with the black which was an option. He said it's so tough I could have left it bare in the fenderwells and underneath. I'll still do it but it would have looked better black.

Some progress pics. It's been slow going as I've never done this before and I have pretty much passed on the DA in favor of block sanding everything. Slower, but waviness is pretty much nil. I've taken it as a challenge because my friend who is part owner at the shop that painted my V8 Miata and has been in bodywork for 30 years said that it would be wavy my first time.

It is a two part epoxy but not sure of the brand. It's an industrial epoxy that the sandblaster uses. Not specifically automotive but it's what he uses for everything including autos. It laid down great and my painter really liked it.

I love these:
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1369143735

I have some shorter ones and the metal stiffener rods for them along with some rolls of adhesive backed coarse paper (I forge what grit).

You have any interest in them?

I love this build dude, and your v8 Miata build, both are awesome. I too kind of took on that challenge, my cousin has been doing bodywork since he was 20, he is now 55. He told me it would be a little wavy, and to be honest, there are some spots on my car that are wavy still. And I thought the car was really good and straight, did guide coats blah blah blah...once I got the color on it and it was all shiny I could see some spots. But for my first time I am more than pleased with it. And most people never even notice it. I'm sure Vlad saw the spots though lol he has been nice enough not to say anything.

Keep up the amazing work, I can't wait to see if you start another project.

If?:giggle:

There will be another.

I want to do a real 60's muscle car, an old Mercedes with a V8 swap or a 240-260Z next.

let me determine what I have tonight and get back to you. I may just want shipping cost and call it a long term loan if I ever want them back. And you can use as much paper as you need.

Stein 05-21-2013 11:56 AM
