Today I took the pistons to Polymer Dynamics (PolyDyn) in town to have a Ceramic coat put on the tops and a Teflon Moly coat put on the skirts

Here's a picture before the coating process:

And also lookie what came in today!!

Alright another small update. Finally got some decent damn weather to show the car some attention.
Replaced the door panels:

Started removal of the ugly tan carpet:

Aaaaaaannnnnndddd found this...

Gutted:

Annnnd afterwards I got a random feeling that i wanted to go buy into another hobby

And last but not least. The pistons are finally done and ready for assembly

Alright the head is being worked on as we speak by a good friend of mine.

The plan is to keep the stock valvetrain, replace the valve stem seals, port and polish, 3 angle valve job and also last but not least. Cryogenic Treatment
I bought the head from someone local, claimed to have come right off a running motor...but from the pictures I'm about to post...you decide
It was pretty filthy

After removal of all the valve train came the jet wash and off to cryogenics
Here is the temperature data sheet the cryogenics place provided me. The head shell and parts were brought down to -300*F for 24 hours, then was slowly brought back up to 300*F and then brought back down to atmospheric temperature.

Back from jet wash and cryo

Onto the Intake manifold gasket matching

3 of 4 Intake ports matched

Also started on the combustion chambers

Exhaust ports being ported .20 over. Still needs media blast and polish

Aaannndd the valve stems showed up

Awesome! Did you find out the material number for the head? And the before and after hardness? I work at a heat treating plant. I used to run the vacuum department which is where our cryo furnace is.
So my only real proof it's that recorded temp/time sheet :/
Well its been awhile...time for another update.
Alek (AKA on the forum as 240Timmons) did my head for my Miata build, needless to say I am more than happy.
I bought this head from another Miata owner who claimed he removed it out of a running car. It was completely disgusting.
The services I paid for were:
Cleaning
Cryogenic Treatment (Recorded data sheet was provided)
Port and Polish
3 angle valve job
Supertech valve seals - Essentially a stock rebuild with some minor changes
Turnaround time was great. After cleaning the head he came across a valve that was bent on a level enough to bind during travel. Replaced the valve and kept going with it.
The port and polish came out great. I will have the head flow benched to show some CFM numbers after the headwork.
Onto the pictures!

After jet wash and cryo

Port and polish started

He even micro polished the solid lifters

After P&P, and deck

Onto assembly

After picking it up

And right after I brought it home the first thing I did was mock up my fuel delivery setup just for ***** and giggles. I'm diggin it

BIG props to Alek Timmons. Thanks again bud
