Did you balance your rotaing assembly or was it that way out of the box

sub'd I had the crank dynamically balanced, and the connecting rods balanced for matching the heavy & light ends. The rest of the rotating assembly I weight matched as detailed in the table above. |
CSP stickers on a turbo Miata. I like it. Ballsy.

Rings Gapped Top 0.017" had to file; Second 0.019" out the box. Rod Clearance ~0.001" Main Clearance just over 0.0015" Thrust Bearing was just over 0.006" piston to wall 0.0035” Assembled with Lucas oil Assembly Lube and a drench of Lucas oil high zinc break in oil additive over the pistons. Main Torque 25-45-65 ft-lbs Rod Caps 20-40-60 ft-lbs (In b4 tq + Angle guys, I kept track of the clocking when I snugged them up and did untorque all fasteners twice.) I have not ordered any gaskets to seal this guy up, can't seem to find a good gasket "kit". Overall assembly was pretty good, glad I called the quits on day 1 prior to putting the piston assemblies in on my overcheck I noticed I put a oil ring upside-down. If i would have done anything differently it would have been getting a circlip installation tool. Terrible assumption those would be no big deal to install without the proper equipment. |

What does this indicate? How does one test this?
I put the damper bolt in and spun it with an electronic torque wrench set to 6.1ft-lbs and it never dings and remains pretty uniform (no excessive stiction or binding) for the full 360deg. I also look on how the rings pull/push the oil around in the cylinders for uniformity and clocking in respect to where the ring gap land is supposed to be. I believe anything sub 15ft-lbs on a miata assembly is pretty good? Im sure somebody has more input than I on this as this is my numero uno miata build. |

Not much progress. Just waiting on the the OEM head gasket to ship. Used loctite on the 8ft-lbs oil pickup tube was the only thing that varied, from what I could tell from OEM configurations. Didn’t see much instruction on torques from BE. Put a question out to Fab9 about their tubi setup to pair with a 6758. I will have todo some more digging for the conclusion I believe I am seeking but the schedule 10 has me weary, would love to see some DFMEA with heat transients. But I’m pretty sure my money’s set on Snagging a TSE kit due to some unrivaled success I’ve searched. https://www.miataturbo.net/prefabbed...r-94048/page4/ |

Head gasket finally got here Torqued 25-45-65 backed them all off then went at it again. Gotta rip the reroute off the old head may actually pull off the intake manifold for some light porting while I’m still deciding what exhaust manifold to pick. That longtube ARtech with a 40mm ewg flange looks good though. |
Not much progress over the holidays. Went with the Artech long runner 40mm EWG manifold pictured above, likely the last one to leave his facility. Will have to modify either the T25 housing to V-band or the EWG dump as I do not see a T25 flange with EWG setup for a EFR 6758. Will most likely just grab a V Band clamp and another 40mm flat stock SS / Alloy600 and run a EGT sensor there so I could mount the T25 internally gated 6758. I have deducted more pros at my desired boost pressure with the Internally gated vs. ex.
Piecing together a fuel system: ID1000s Fuel lab reg Radium fuel rail Walbro 450 This setup is looking pretty potent referencing some other 6758 builds on here. Should likely update my HP goals for this season, I would like to run on 93 only. Depending on how smooth this season goes next year it would be cool to upgrade to a e85 setup with a MS3. |
Fuel Rail, regulator, and the associated lines and fittings are here. Also this pretty thang hit the mail.
Guess its time to do the taxes and order that 6758, Abe is the man and swapped the T25 out for the Vband so i could run the .85 this should pair nicely with the CNC head. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d43494e322.jpg |
Been a few, but spring is here.
K-miata BP to BMW kit and all associated goodies are here, thanks OOjk3a. EWG headed here as well, thanks Viperormiata Sold my 10" 6ul to snag some x11" Dropped the rear subframe for the weld in V8 roadster kit when it gets here in two weeks. Motors all together, getting some parts lists together for the water/oil feed lines for the EFR have a TSE Oil feed adaptor on the way. Still need a sandwich plate(anybody got one),I want to retain the heater core going to have todo that whole flip/cut/weld in bung thingy the water inlet flange. Side note Dave over at K-miata is the real deal, more helpful than any aftermarket supplier Ive dealt with. I think your damper is from prior to the December date that Fab9 mentioned, but worth verifying while you still have slightly easier access to the damper.

Thanks sir, mine is indeed bad, I ordered it in May/17. extremely upsetting as this took 3 months to get in the first time around. |
That's news that yours from early 2017 is bad. The teeth to notch are out of alignment? Have a pic?

Good luck man!
