I wouldn't know, I never ran the car without the heat shielding. The plan was to address the issues before they became issues.

When does that gt2854 start to spool? I have a churbo knockoff and with a 3" exhaust I start to spool at like 3.5k and can hit 15lbs by 4k on a 99 1.8L.

I have never used any other turbo so I can't compare, but I've been happy with it so far. I also have a 4.30 torsen so I'm almost always hovering around 3.5-4k anyway.

Pretty much the same here. 10psi by 4k. I was worried it might spool too slow, but I'm happy with it.

New owner

So...

I own this car now.

I have many questions as a first time Miata and turbo-car owner...

It has a fairly new 1.6 installed in it.

The previous owner has been running conventional 20w50 and I’m not very knowledgeable, but I would think the turbo would appreciate some variety of 0w instead... possibly synthetic...

Other than that that car runs good, has 20k on the current 1.6 motor...

Needs new bushings... and likely a once-over by someone familiar with this...

Looking for any advice and welcome feedback as a new member.

Don't run 0w unless you plan on winter driving below zero and not boosting. These 1980s tractor engines aren't designed for very thin oil.

Rotella T6 synthetic is the droid you are looking for.

Read, research and read some more. there are very few topics or questions regarding miatas that haven't been recorded already.

Walmart is the cheapest place. O'Reillys, Advance Auto, Tractor Supply Company, and a bunch more places. Blue jug.
