I FINALLY dropped my car off at the body shop. He had quite a waiting list but will do it good and cheap. After that I will repaint the car. I'm hoping to get that all lined out before May. But we will see about all that.

So I ended up with another miata. I couldn't pass this deal up. The car looks rough but the shell is in good shape. The frame rails are solid. I will more than likely hold on to this as a clean donor for my car in case it gets creamed again. I'll part out what I don't need.

Big thanks to psyber_0ptix for hooking me up with some Wilwood hardware. This should go nicely with my brakes.

oh yeah, I just didn't get it in the picture.

So my body guy had the car a few days and realized he didn't have time to get to it yet so I took the car and fixed a few minor issues.
Fixed cruise control Ran better boost line to ECU Moved both O2 sensors further back from the turbo Then some friends and I went on a drive. I spent 14 hours strapped in a race seat this weekend. Man it was a lot of driving. I'm so glad I got my cruise control working. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b2fbca9aa7.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b5ba873a98.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...4fd1e3e3c8.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...e9cfd1fd15.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...bd6cc4b35f.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...382919db69.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...bb6a8021b8.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...07485824d8.jpg |

Fantastic!

I snagged a SWEEEET deal ($150 shipped :dealwithit:) on this FM crossflow radiator, it came with msm fans which I will more than likely sell. I'm hoping this is better than the megan racing radiator I currently have. It does the job but I feel like this will be better. When I go to install this I will add proper ducting.
BTW what should I use to flush this with? I've used water but there is still a little buildup on the inside. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...3c6bcc6c49.jpg |

I would not do any of that. I'd flush quickly with simple green or purple power or some other harmless cleaner and move on. Some radiators are actually glued/bonded together. You don't wanna eat away at that with something strong

Looking forward to your ducting. I had so many problems with mine.

My car is FINALLY at the body shop. Man it took forever to get to this point.

Curious: was it mostly a matter of getting available shop time? Just wondering.
Once I have it back I've got to sort out some minor issues with my ECU. It is seeing 20psi when my boost gauge is seeing 24psi. Then install my new radiator and ducting, and lastly the part I hate with a passion, sanding the car down. I hate sanding cars. But I'm too cheap to pay someone to do it. |
Good to hear!

I got the car back Saturday and didn't waste a minute. I am SOOOO GLAD I had a parts car. There were a tons of plastic parts I needed that I wasn't aware of. So that really helped me get everything back together. Its far from prefect but it's the best the car has looked in like 10 months or so. So I'll take it. I'm going to work out my other to-dos before I sand and paint it.

Looking great!

So I have an odd issue. I'm needing some input on.
My boost controller sees 24psi stable. But my ecu sees around 20psi. Both sensors are pulling off the back of the intake manifold. The boost gauge is using a 0.25 inch line the ecu is using something smaller. The only thing I have done was replaced the weak vacuum line that kept failing causing my ecu to read low or no boost at all. I replaced it with something with a thicker sidewall. I thought I was doing good here but looks like I went backwards. If the nemisis had a 0.25 fitting this would be an easy fix I think. I went back through my logs and the weak line did see 24psi. The line goes through the firewall with the engine harness. Could it be getting pinched and I can't see it? The car doesn't seem to drive right like this. I can back the boost down to 20psi and the car drives great. |
