Still running my old dw300 pump. I have the fuelab regulator, which has been very reliable so far, I ran a simple bypass hose under the fuel pump panel. Return line to regulator, bypass hose from regulator to tank return, cut stock regulator tube, run pa12 hose to pump sock.

sonofthehill 02-24-2021 10:51 PM

I have an extra bypass hose I made from pa12, plus extra hose that you can have if you want. However, my method is rather unusual and I can't remember which configuration I used with the regulator. I can find out if you want. I think the jury is still out on the pa12 stuff.

Might want to consider looking at the walbro 525 pump. It flows a lot of fuel at very high pressures. Reasonably priced as well.

This sounds like the general direction I'm headed. Are you running static fuel pressure or are you boost referencing with a long vacuum hose?

Nawaza - I don't think I'm quite pump limited yet, but when I am, I'm thinking I just swap out the DW200 for a DW300 to keep it simple. Once this regulator issue, and possibly fuel pump limitations, are sorted, I'm likely turbo limited to 325-350whp.

18psi 03-02-2021 02:10 PM

You are not running static. I won't let you. Friends don't let friends run non-referenced. :giggle:

sonofthehill 03-02-2021 06:51 PM

I run a long hose. You need the reference to get the pressure there. Absolutely essential.

Who said anything about static? Obviously boost referenced. Obviously.

For the first time in like....ever, I’m actually working on REDUCING bottoms end torque and spool.
I finally got it a bit more controllable by reducing boost duty and valve overlap below 3k, and feeding it in gradually up to 4k
its finally drivable at 60% throttle in 3rd

People on the internet report breaking drivetrains because the ludicrous boost onset is like a hard launch. Too much powah! :skid:

Finally got it to stick on the dyno. 343whp/449wtq on a Mustang dyno. And it feels glorious.
at this point it's both fuel and turbo limited, so I'm going to leave it as is for a while and just enjoy it.
Big props to 18psi for working out the kinks and tuning.

Looks like I haven't posted my big boy rubber here yet. 15x10 Dekagrams and 245 RS4s, which let me punch it in 4th and keep traction if I do it smoothly.
Don't judge me for the ride height. So many potholes...

Question

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...f26cd2a05b.jpgOil drain. I had to cut away some space on the motor mounts, but it's a non-critical spot. The drain taps very nicely into the block.

I was wondering if you know what size drill and tap you used on the bedplate here?

Swank01 02-08-2022 09:57 PM

I was wondering if you knew what size drill and tap you used to make the OEM oil drain fit. Also my oil drain seems to be a push type line with an o ring around it, not a fitting. Did you have to modify the OEM oil drain line?

curly 02-09-2022 12:09 AM

It’ll be 3/8 or 1/2npt, look up a drill chart for sizing. It’s fairly obvious if you measure that boss which size is correct.

Vaguely from memory I think it was 1/2 NPT, but I just found the fitting that fit the drain that came with the turbo I picked up. Looking at that o-ring type end that comes on some stock drain lines, I think you'll need to hack it off and put a screw type fitting on it.
I'm guessing you have one like in the middle of this picture

put the stock wheels/tires back on.

18psi 02-09-2022 12:56 PM

so that it spins in 5th too?
