So Finally had a day off work to do some thing to the car. Hot ass day to paint shit. Got the rear panel painted black with flake, and the miata badge blue flake. Got the rims painted gloss black with a ton of flake! Got the cage painted Green, and some other misc things painted. *i.e. chrome door handles and roof mounts.

I don't know dude...it is startin' to look a little ricer to me. Don't do it. Take the spacers out from between the hood and the hinges too. I do like the black filler panel though.

owengt 07-21-2010 04:27 AM

i like it when people are brave as thier cars are the ones that stand out but there is a fine line between awesome and what we in england like to call chavs. but im likeing it all atm apart from bonnet raisers

Nagase 07-21-2010 05:05 AM

Seriously man, you need a lot more car to pull of lime green. Check out thesnowboarder's build.

Hood risers: Form fail + Function fail = 100% fail

What's with the black fender? Your car is just way too busy. If you're keeping the PacMan thing, i'd keep the rest low key.

You do realize removing that rear panel is only a few nuts and bolts and you could have painted it correctly, off the car? Are those green caps on the wheels? :ugh2:

iwanagofast 07-21-2010 10:04 AM

hell yea I am a ricer! pacman is coming off and the car is going white. Center caps are also being painted black, I was just trying it to see what they look like.

after all its just paint ;)

and I have to space the hood up, when it makes my temps drop a noticable amount I don't care what it looks like.

Hmm I dont know what they tell you over at CR.net, but raised hood mad JDM tyte yo! does NOT lower the temperatures of the engine bay. Au contraire it raises them as the cowl area is a high pressure zone; thereof you're impeding the flow from the front travel trough the engine.

If you want functionality do an extraction vent i.e the Mini cooper scoop backwards.

I can respect that. As it was just pointed out raising the hood restricts air flow at the radiator.

well then, my megasquirt must be lying to me and my stock gauge must be lying as well!

Nagase 07-21-2010 03:13 PM

Made this for Flounder, but it works here too:

You know what that means... Turn the boos up.

iwanagofast 07-22-2010 02:28 AM

anyways off the my jdm non functioning hood to other issues.

I have not been able to hit more than 2lbs so far, so I thought it was the exhaust manifold gasket. Tonight I took it all apart to check and it all looked fine. I take a look at my boost controller and I had a nasty leak coming through it so I just ran the vaccum line from source to wastegate. I go for a test drive and the car still only hits 2lbs..

I am going to go over all my intercooler piping tomorrow and check it out.. my only other guess would be intake manifold gasket... and I have heard those are fun to replace. Anyways, if you guys have any ideas i would appreciate it!

to succesfully remove heat from the engine bay you need to have an open that creates a vacuum (some sort of reverse scoop) but you must also have a good supply of cold air to replace that other wise the vacuum inside the engine bay will end up greater than the passing air outside can create passing over the vent and then the hot air is trapped. i have heat issues as the bonnet on my car has a scoop for a top mount i/c but i have now put on a fm and the air going in that scoop traps the hot air

Thats cool, I guess my situation is special.. or like I said... my megasquirt and stock temp gauge must be incorrect. Whatever the situation I guess I am lucky because this pointless space has actually worked... go figure!

Must be nice to live in a world where fluid dynamics and physics don't apply.:bowrofl:

As far as your boost issue goes, do some more digging. What kind of turbo are you using and is it spinning freely??

Nah mang his coolant temp dropped. JDM tyte hood even changed the point at which his thermostat opens and fans kick on.

Hypertownville?

Anyway, gives a log or something to work with. Also make sure that your wastegate is functioning. Check couplers, vac lines, and all that bs... the report back. Once again post a log too.

3. Your retarded.
