Since then I've swapped the top off my NA, swapped the shocks/springs and RB sway bar from my NA, swapped over my M-tuned bbk. I also painted the lower part of the dash and the carpet. I'm waiting on black door panels to come in the mail.

The body still needs a really good detail. I need to find some NB seats. I still need to order a front GV lip and I'm getting a rear MSM lip from a friend of mine. I also want to tint the windows and rear tail lights. I also need to swap in my roll bar.

Once all that is done I will move onto the power dept. :brain: is going to mod my MS to MSII for the NB, then I'll start collecting go fast parts.

I like this car alot. The headlights look pimp in the daylight

thesnowboarder 08-31-2010 11:39 AM

Woah, never seen anyone paint the interior bits of a car while its still in the car. The black already looks better. Were all excited to see what this turns into. Good luck keep up the good work Phil!

Looking good! First thing I did on my NB was swap the interior out for black too, I hated the tan. Headlights look good too, I've been wanting to do that to mine.

Thanks man, there's not much more I can do right now. I need to strip the NA and ship parts. Once that is done I should be ready to boost it.

Yeah, If I were to pull it all out I would have just swapped in an already black interior and I didn't feel like doing all that. It worked out in the end.

Do it, it took maybe an hour. If you already have paint then it's like a free mod. lol.

Any special tricks to getting these headlights apart or just the normal oven deal? Definitely have plenty of paint, think I even have some made for painting plastic so it doesn't flake off. I need to polish the lenses too, mine are starting to fog over.

LS1 swap?

In on page1 of what is certainly going to be a badass build.

Instructions from 18psi.

remove basically everything that's removeable from the headlight. Unscrew all screws. Preheat oven to 220 degrees. Use a cookie tray or something flat and big enough to hold headlight. Cover that in tin foil so you don't mess up the tray or make it smell like headlights after. pop it in there (do 1 at a time) for about 10 minutes. anywhere around that time the glue gets soggy. underdo it and you'll have to rip the 2 parts apart which is bad and can damage them. overdo and you might start melting the clear part. its a balancing act.

when you take it out, WEAR GLOVES. soft leather or vinyl ones will work. pry apart. you MAY need to use a flathead to "help" pry them apart. be very careful cause metal can seriously mess up the plastic, so don't just have at it. be very patient, HOWEVER if you take more than about 30 seconds to pry apart it will start hardening back up and make it a nightmare. if that happens, pop it in for another 2-5 minutes and get it back up to temp.

I had to put them in for 12 minutes in order to separate them. Every oven is different so the time may vary. Just start with 10.

mist coat when your painting them. thats all they need and make sure you wipe them down good with alcohol before you paint.

turotufas 08-31-2010 01:25 PM

Kinda makes me want to swap all my stuff to a NB.

How's that stuff hold up. I have been wanting to do it to my trucks carpet for a while now. The truck gets alot of abuse and i wonder how well the black would stay without wearing out.

considering how oxidized they were, I'm surprised you even knew you had headlights:D:D

Believe it or not, Ive polished them at least half a dozen times. It always came back after a few months, and recently I just gave up (on the headlighrs and the car in general)
