Scarlet

Finally have some free time now that the semesters over, so I wanted to make a build thread to hopefully meet some new people on here.

First, a little bit about me, I'm from Chicago and am a sophomore at the University of Alabama studying chemical engineering. This miata was my first car, and a forever car. Anyways lets play some catch-up.

I bought my 2002 Miata from a dealer in the fall of 2014, the car was basically brand new with only 8,157 miles from one owner heres a picture back then.

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...ec5b06637b.jpg

One with the girlfriend crazy how young we were, still together now, its been 4 years.

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...59ec7c1a4c.jpg

The first mod, sometime later that fall of 2014, this is where it all started, a BEAUTIFUL flyin-miata strut bar probably unnecessary but I was so happy at the time. Super nice starting with a car this clean its like it was in a time-capsule.

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b57e01a7f7.jpg

That's enough for this post more to come.

BBro 12-17-2017 03:53 PM

At that point winter was coming and the car has never seen the winter and never should so I put it in storage till the next year while saving money.

Winter ended and I drove the car some more, hit 10,000 miles! Now were in the spring of 2015.

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d3780eaf11.jpg

Somewhere soon after this I decided to to my first big mods, suspension. Went with FM sways, there v-maxx coils, and some adjustable endlinks. 20/20 Hindsight I wouldn't have got the coils they are my next big change for the car come next summer, just not happy with them.

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b30c477c6e.jpg
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...0033b39123.jpg

From there I just drove the car like this most of the spring and summer went to some local shows hung-out with friends, all in all good memories.

Now its the Fall of 2015

Next mod I went for was wheels and tires, 15x9 Jongbloeds with 225/45/15 Rival S. Put them on, got the car aligned and really loved how it drove, tons of fun, so much grip.

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...fb857f506e.jpg
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...fffb3c505a.jpg
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...5c665eccd3.jpg

At this point is when I really fell down the wormhole and decided the car deserved some more power to go along with its handling. To prepare for the power I got a FM level 1 Clutch, LW flywheel, and all the other goodies/seals to go along with the install. The car had 13,600 miles then. Cant really find photos of the install right now, but here is the money shot.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...28ffce42bc.jpg

For the rest of that summer I just enjoyed the car and saved money.

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...7d169f8a59.jpg
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...0cf46818a8.jpg

Zsanz 12-17-2017 03:55 PM

x9s with the rivals definitely woke that car up.

BBro 12-17-2017 04:15 PM

^They sure did haha I think the tires on it were the originals from when the car was new.
So I put the car back in storage for the winter of 2015 and again, brought it back out for the spring of 2016. Had the x9s off and the stock wheels on so the rivals didn't freeze in the garage. Heres the first picture I took when I got the car from storage that spring

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...9a760d1e5f.jpg

Over that winter I accumulated new seats, marrad lx1 to get lower in the car and some Morimoto HID, I really like having good lights.

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b08af2bf97.jpg
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...2a16453955.jpg

Put the seat and lights in and and got a little crazy trying to make a console that was less annoying (this was terrible but I made a better revision at some point, the stock one lives in the car now and will forever, sometimes I do dumb things but hey we all learn)

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...9a786ef5fb.jpg
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...424e4a144c.jpg

Next sometime later in 2016 I found a craigslist deal on a used for 300 mile FM 4 wheel brake kit in sport sizing and couldn't pass it up. These are not usually bigger than stock but my car had non-sport brakes and these are sport brake size so overall a nice upgrade, the pedal felt so much firmer. Did all hard lines and a bias adjuster at the same time.

Bonus update pic with the girlfriend

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...62aeb93032.jpg

BBro 12-17-2017 04:33 PM

Next to prepare for the turbo I wanted a LSD, found a 3.9 for a good price put it in the car and swapped the speed sensor.

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...887c798b05.jpg
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...c22d752934.jpg

Now in the fall of 2016 I felt the car was truly ready for boost and ordered an FM Voodoo 2 kit with hardlines, inconel studs with locking hardware, a crossflow radiator with fan and shrouds, and all the other good stuff like a wideband.. etc. cant find many pictures of the install or parts but I'll add them once I check my old phone.

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...3a5d06bca4.jpg
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...03c7c51dc5.jpg

Time for senior prom! Went with the girlfriend of course.

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...668d12c4c6.jpg

Boost was great it really transformed the car, wanted to start tracking the car so a roll-bar was in order, got a BBFW GT3 custom powder coated bronze.

BBro 12-17-2017 04:42 PM

I graduated high-school and accepted a full ride to the University of Alabama! To celebrate that summer my Dad and I planned a trip to MATG and FM summercamp. It was really an experience that I wouldn't trade anything for. Met so many awesome people.

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...88c38c0001.jpg
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...36302c9d16.jpg

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b1670b1bd3.jpg
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...918ee1c87b.jpg

The trip was two parts Chicago to North Carolina, back to Chicago for a week then off to Colorado. Driving the car that far and that hard made me learn a few things. For one voodoo box=garbage driving through the mountains at 10,000 feet of elevation on a tune I made at nearly sea-level in Chicago was brutal, not being able to easily change timing for 91 gas and so much more really made me realize its shortcomings. It was a nice stepping stone but I knew that was all it was when I got into it.

BBro 12-17-2017 05:10 PM

Well the summer ended and I went off to college I left the car at home for my first year and didn't get to drive again till that summer and the small breaks I was home for. Over the summer the trip really made me realize what I wanted the car for and how to make it the best for that. I basically want the car do be a super capable streetcar that can be road-tripped anywhere, kill the canyons, and be taken to the track and beat on as hard as I can.

I started with the interior, here is how it was at the end of that summer, I had to have harnesses because with the roll-bar and the seats I had the stock seat-belts were unusable and from the seating position my knee would get trapped between the door-card and steering wheel so I had to have aluminum door-cards.

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...51d3d5026a.jpg

The first step to fixing this issue was new seats, found Tesla Roadster seats which are basically lotus Elise seats but fancier for a good price so I picked them up.

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...e0ff7b3a2f.png
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...546539269c.jpg

With these my seating position was now perfect because I had drilled out the stock seat mounting humps and custom mounted them to the floor just how I wanted while still utilizing the oem Tesla slider on the drivers side so the seat moves. Now I was able to put back in the stock door-cards stock console and stock seat-belts and the car was so much better to drive and much more oriented to how I wanted it. Got all this done over my breaks home from college.

Next was the ECU. standalone was the only answer and I went with a MS3-PNP Pro thanks to this forum and I haven't looked back. Thanks guys!

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b861f09d8a.jpg

When I got home from college to install it I found out they call for zip-ties to hold my 1k ecu. No thanks. Singular motorsports ecu bracket was ordered and used.

Sometime towards the end of that year at college a mint hardtop in red popped up on craigslist back home and I've been searching ever since I bought the car for one, so I bought it and had my Dad go and pick it up for me.

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...81f3f9b35e.jpg

Also had picked up FlowForce 640cc injectors to go with the megasquirt.

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...da61229358.jpg

Well I finished my freshman year of college came home and was super excited to get everything installed and the car up to snuff.

Got the car up and running on MS with the new injectors on the base-map and started tuning. Oh man was that fun. I read as much as I could and eventually things started to click, besides a few things the tune is very good now.

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...f2ba1d00fb.jpg

BBro 12-17-2017 05:15 PM

Kept learning and tuning the car that summer getting ready to go to MATG with my Dad again. Its sort of a thing we do every year now. My girlfriend and I went out and shot some good photos of the car too now that it was almost perfect.

Well that is it for todays updates, killed a few hours, I will finish bringing the build up to the current time soon.

Leuz 12-18-2017 01:30 AM

What a clean car! Nice job.

sixshooter 12-18-2017 08:11 AM

Very nice story.

matrussell122 12-18-2017 09:35 AM

Very clean! Look forward to see the progress in the future

BBro 12-18-2017 02:02 PM

Thanks guys! It has definitely been quite a transformation haha!

18psi 04-16-2018 08:22 PM

that is one seriously low mile and clean car.

concealer404 04-16-2018 08:56 PM

It is.... it's just as nice in person too. :) Nice to see you made your way over here!

<----- the dented and gross loud purple car.

Scaxx 04-16-2018 09:53 PM

Damn that is a clean nb, nice car man!

miataman04 04-16-2018 09:57 PM

I finally found your build thread. I can personally vouch for how well kept this car is.

BBro 04-16-2018 10:09 PM

Wow.. thanks for the kind words everyone! I actually remember both of your cars from MATG Concealer and miataman04. I remember the purple car, I drove in some groups with you it was fun! Miataman04, I remember you! I'm glad to see you rebuilding your car, I remember giving you the ride from the gas station to the scene after the accident, it was a sad day but its going to be better than ever now.

miataman04 04-17-2018 09:49 AM

The Gap was truly an adventure. I thought it was funny when you pulled up at the Killboy shop. You didn't say a word, I just knew I had to go with you to see what happened to the car. I wanted to ride in your car, just not for that reason. Oh well. Are you planning on going to the Gap this year?

BBro 04-17-2018 12:11 PM

Yeah thats for sure. Im hoping to make it out again, I have the room booked from last year.

viperormiata 04-17-2018 01:14 PM

Really nice car, man.

BBro 05-05-2018 07:01 PM

Finally done with sophomore year of college and back home.

Had a pile of parts to get in, took about 1.5 days to get it all done.

Ready to go! Doing the clutch because my FM level 1 clutch started to slip.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d6e5a145a7.jpg

Transmission out and ready to get cleaned up.
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...46ce7b8451.jpg

Spent FM level 1 vs Supermiata sport clutch
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...a83a453174.jpg

Clutch in!
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...bab4aeab02.jpg

Miata Roadsters short-throw in, this thing feels magical.
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...bf9a9626d1.jpg

Fancy new hardware for the down pipe because a stud pulled out of the turbo outlet when I took it off so I decided to freshen it all up with new studs, lock-nuts, and nord-lock washer, nuts were pricey(>$5.00/each)
On a side note its so nice being able to order from Mc-Master with will call shipping; drive there and the order is ready by the time I get there.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...085bc28e77.jpg

Fancy new silicone hose to switch the waste-gate lines from rubber they're too close to the manifold for comfort so I want something I can trust.
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b2181fbbec.jpg

Overall everything went smooth. Taking the down-pipe off and bolting it back up was the worst part. I prefer the Supermiata puck clutch to the FM level 1 clutch; the way it feels just inspires more confidence in its holding capability. Also was a nice touch to be able to shorten the clutch throw by ~1" because the Supermiata clutch doesn't need as much pedal travel, really helps for taller people like me. Next steps with the car is to get the tune 100% perfect, gonna be working with Vlad to get it there since I'm only capable of getting the tune so close.

BBro 05-08-2018 02:05 PM

After doing some research and reading all the PCV, crankcase ventilation, and catch-can threads I decided the best solution for me was to leave the stock PCV setup setup and just run a check-valve inline with the PCV valve. The pros for a catch-can that is setup properly and ran VTA just heavily outweigh the cons for me especially considering I have no noticeable blow by or oil consumption. Here is a picture of the setup and a link to the valve- it seals good, flows well and is safe to 160℃ .

Have you broken in the clutch yet? Do you like it better than the FM stage 1?

Yes, I just finished breakingit in.. theres really not much break in since its ceramic but supermiata said ~200 miles of taking it easy if I want to be safe.

I like it a lot more than my FM stage 1. Pedal feel is just a tiny bit heavier, you really have to think about it to tell a difference, With the FM you have to max out clutch pedal travel but with this you can shorten it up so you can shift really fast and its just much nicer to not have to pick my foot up so high to shift. Driveability it definitely grabs harder but its still fine in traffic you just have to let it out slow and controlled. I noticed no bad behavior over the FM unit. Note my experience with FM was with a lightweight fly wheel and the supermiata was with the stock flywheel.

BBro 06-13-2018 05:37 PM

Update:

Lately nothing much has been happening just going back and forth with Vlad to work on the tune. Were on revision 7 now and still fighting some idle/fan issues but about to begin tuning the ebc, so I'm excited to finally have some fun again.

Found a local surplus store that sells these brass 3/16" connectors for $0.50 each. Seemed priced better than anywhere online so I picked a bunch up to replace any plastic ones I have. If anyone wants to buy some I would be happy to go to the store and send you some just pay actual cost and shipping.

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1750/...51b29d6e_b.jpg

Also got an awesome surprise from Italy. 2" spacer for the OEM wheel. Never even knew these existed but I'm so happy I bought one. Completely changed the car for me. Being 6' everything is just better with the wheel spaced back.
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/887/4...c6ce8554_b.jpg

One of my favorite parts of the nb miata was the OEM stering wheel. Its aged so well I would've hated to replace it with something aftermarket, and now I don't have to.

Idle, fan issues take several logs to get right. I am just getting mine good for the Flow Force 960's with e85. You are in good hands.

Yeah if anyone can make it work its him. Im a big believer the hardest part of tuning on megasquirt is idle and idle load tuning. Which reminds me we haven't messed with AC at all.

Right there with you on this. I changed my fan to a monster this winter and im fighting the idle all over again.

Yeah its no fun for anyone haha. It really makes you respect the stock ecu. The stock ecu handled both my huge spal fans perfectly all the time. Obviously there are other complications now like larger injectors but I wonder what strategy the stock ecu used to control these things.

My only gripe is MS realy needs full control for a second fan rather than a simple on off input. I cant imagine its that hard to add.

matrussell122 06-14-2018 11:22 AM

I used a derale pwm controller for my big fan and just have the output set to always on. Then when the pwm controller gets the temp signal it will controls the fans. So if you had that control the big spall fans then you could use the MS fan control for the other one... Or just run the Volvo fan like i have in my build thread

Yeah the volvo fan is neat. Think the one in my daily s80 works the same. I dont want to do any hardware changes unless Vlad thinks theres no way to get it to work well the way its setup now. If I do need to do a change I think PWM will be the move the controller is nice but I dont like the temp probe. I’ve heard of people using a MS pwm out and a solid state relay, what made you shy away from that?

18psi 06-14-2018 11:52 AM

The interesting thing is that it's specifically your car that seems to struggle more than most.
And it's not as much about how it handles the fans, as it is about that initial reaction where it seems to be a bit slow to react and by the time it does it's a bit late.

But we'll figure it out :)

matrussell122 06-14-2018 11:55 AM

I wanted to do the MS output without the derale unit but the big selling point was the soft start function. The volvo fan on startup pulls huge power where with soft start it slowly ramps to pwm output speed. The probe in the kit was a big negative for m, i really didnt want to spear the probe through my radiator. I ended up getting the correct plug to fill the oem fan sensor location the drilled and tapped for the derale sensor. Theres a bunch of pictures and information in my build thread on what i did and the discussion about the different options.

DNMakinson 06-14-2018 12:36 PM

I enjoy this thread.

My daughter was a gymnast / student coach at 'Bama. Has SEC and NCAA rings. Great experience for her.

BBro 06-14-2018 12:46 PM

Thats funny haha guess my car is just special. :loser:

That makes sense about wanting softstart, I’ ll finish reading your build today.

Thanks DNM, thats awesome. ‘Bama has been really good to me so far, only nice things to say. I think they did a really good job of using some of the money from being a sport-powerhouse and putting it also towards becoming a better school.

Eyeballed the toe to get it good enough to drive to the alignment shop today.
Installed the balljoints so I can hit 949 Dual Duty specs. Before I could only hit about -1.7 front camber.

I am interested to see if I feel the car is too loose with these alignment specs and FM swaybars.

BBro 08-08-2018 08:14 PM

Purchased a square-top from a gentleman in Germany. It came in with the expected grime and corrosion.

I dropped it off at the machine shop today to be thoroughly cleaned. Use these as a comparison of before and after.

Mine looked very similar, some scotchbrite wheels and lots of intake cleaner made it look nice and new-ish. Definitely disgusting at first though

BBro 08-09-2018 09:15 AM

Yeah- kind of expected considering they’re usually coming off cars that are getting junked.

I was going to do the scotchbrite and carb cleaner but figured the machine shop would have tools to do the job easier.

They offered to bead blast it with a silica based media but I’m passing on that because of all the horror stories of engines blowing from having aluminum oxide bead blasting. I’m going to be spraying it with wrinkle black anyways so the texture doesnt bother me.

Grantpro 10-24-2018 12:12 PM

Hey man, just saw your thread by seeing that you looked at my profile. Awesome car, just beautiful!

BBro 01-04-2019 11:03 AM

Not Much has been happening the car is just sitting in the garage until it gets nice out. I picked up some cool parts this winter.

15x9 Bronze gen 4 6UL with 245 Maxxis VR-1. Excited to see the VR-1 compared to my RS-4 and I have always wanted a set of these wheels in this color. Picked these up in near perfect condition second hand.

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4878/...54f6e4b4_b.jpg

Found a set of black Lotus Elise seats local and I couldn't pass these up. I'm always on the lookout for lotus seats and I got a great price. Plan is to swap these out for my current grey Tesla seats and sell those. The Lotus seats have more bolstering and I wanted black. Hoping my current mounting solution will work but if not I will make something else up.

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4832/...6809cdec_b.jpg

Also picked up one of the Junk2 TBs when they went 45% off. I have already drilled a couple holes to adjust spring tension so once its in the car I can decide which one works the best.

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4810/...8d9b7c7f_b.jpg

My squaretop is off getting powder-coated wrinkle-black, I cant wait to see how it comes out. Will update with pictures when I pick it up.

psyber_0ptix 01-04-2019 11:26 AM

Be careful with the type of media used to blast before powdercoating.

Where was this Junk2 Sale? Thinking about picking up an unmolested TB for modification but never could commit to spending full amount.

BBro 01-04-2019 11:47 AM

Thanks for the heads up psyber, I made sure they weren't using aluminum oxide. I'll find out exactly what they used when I pick it up. They're an automotive specialty shop so I trust they would know what to use.

The Junk2 sale was on their website for blackfriday, I posted it in the sales thread. If you subscribe to their emails they run sales pretty often it seems so hopefully you can catch the next one one. They just had one for new-years but it seems to have ended.

BBro 01-06-2019 10:12 AM

Square-top came back from powder-coating and looks great. I'm really glad I didn't attempt to wrinkle black this myself, there is no way I would have got in all the nooks and crannies as well as they did.

The weather in Chicago has just started to get warm enough to allow me to start working on the car.

Before I'm fully ready to start tuning again I want to install a few things.

1. Mount the Elise seats.
2. Install squaretop and skunk2 TB
3. Install FM Oil Cooler Kit and do an oil change.

I started this weekend by working on custom mounts for the Elise seats. I bought four 2' sections of 2" wide 1/8" thick stainless flat stock. The seller I bought the seats from also sold me flip side brackets but this wont just be a bolt in affair with the stock sliders because I want to be lower and have removed the rear seat humps.

My plan was to fabricate two pieces of metal that utilize the OEM front mount then get bolted flat to the floorboard in the rear. Something I had to keep in mind was getting the right amount of recline with this design as well. The amount of recline and how far back you can mount the seat are inversely related so it took a few attempts to find a good recline that also allows me to have the seat far enough back.

The passenger side went first here you see a comparison of the old Tesla Roadster seat in grey and my new Elise seats in Black.

A few differences
1. Elise seats are FRP and Roadster seats are dry carbon.
2. Roadster seats are 2" wider across the middle
3. Elise seats have more bolstering
4. BLACK

Here is the bend brake and stainless flat stock I will be using.

And here are the brackets all mocked up... this design works well.

Still left to do is have bolts welded in the rear mounting hole that will pass through the floorboard and be bolted from the bottom. This is necessary because it is impossible to reach the rear mounts from the top with the seat installed.

I will also be spraying them wrinkle black before they go in. This side took a while to complete. Drilling the stainless was extremely time consuming and hard using a hand drill. I ended up borrowing my Uncle's drill press and it made things 10x easier. Drivers side will be started tomorrow.

Anyone have any ideas of good ways to fill old holes in the floor? Jb Weld? Jb weld+ a piece of metal?

What about actual weld? Is that an option?

BBro 03-17-2019 09:01 PM

Actual weld wont be an option for a while but it is the end goal. I just don't want to take the whole interior apart and find someone capable right now.

Got the drivers side brackets made today and my cousin welded the bolts into the rear holes on all of them, he did a great job. I am almost too low on the drivers side with this setup (I'm 6') its even lower than all my previous seat setups.

I'm calling it for tonight. Tomorrow I will grind all the corners to a nice round edge, paint them wrinkle black, get them final mounted in the car, and this project will be finished up.

The same overall length and bend angles from the passenger side worked on the drivers side but the front hole needed to be farther forward than it does on the passenger side.

looking good! hope to see you at MATG this year!

BBro 03-20-2019 08:47 AM

Thanks! I'm hoping to make it out but accepted a new job for the summer so we'll see where I'm at closer to the event.

Got all the sharp edges and corners rounded smooth and sprayed them wrinkle black. I did 3 heavy coats, got them to start wrinkling with a heat gun, then let them cure on the grill for a couple hours on low. I love wrinkle black it's super easy, forgiving and always comes out great. Seats should go in for good today.

Enjoyable thread you have here, very thoughtful progression.
I've never made it to MATG personally but it's been on the list of things to explore. My wife is building herself an NB as well so we might make a trip down with the dog in our cars.

Re the seats; an extra washer or two on the strap brackets and seat brackets each could help adjust things to get you setup perfectly. I'm a big fan of that wrinkle black as well as the rustoleum hammered colors, the latter being better for a cage or something you can't bake.

Seriously impressed with the quality of this build, particularly considering your age. Beautiful car, fun to watch it go together.

Just needs some good suspenders.... :D

slammed200, thanks! It has definitely been quite a ride to where it is now changing so much stuff and even re-doing things I've already changed. I can't recommend MATG enough the experience is tons of fun and just the place is really beautiful if you've never been to the Smokey's yet.

I was planning to use washers to fine tune the recline and seat height. I also plan to add some of the aerogel foam to the seats so that may increase height too, just have to wait and see what I think once I drive in them for a little. The Rust-Oleum paint looks nice too, I'm a fan of any paint that's easy to use.

Thank you haha IMO its hard for even young people to not know the right way to build a miata, a lot of them just choose to do dumb things. Maybe someday :giggle:

It's not even the fact that you are choosing quality parts, but also your taste in parts, the car you started with, no gaudy body kits or crown royal shift boots or bright red wheels or anything stupid. It's all understated, solid, quality stuff.

Gawd I love that color bronze on a red car.

The interesting thing is that it's specifically your car that seems to struggle more than most.
And it's not as much about how it handles the fans, as it is about that initial reaction where it seems to be a bit slow to react and by the time it does it's a bit late.

But we'll figure it out :)

MS3, correct? If this is still an issue, we can talk about it. I understand 18 is off-line presently.

Yep the MS3pro pnp unit from DIY we were still fighting that issue and it seems Vlad is bussy with real life. I am planning to get back to tuning this weekend so your help would be awesome! I’ve been reading and collecting ideas from a lot of other idle threads and your posts have been a big help in learning new ideas and strategies. Also just read through the whole manual for 1.5.1 this week in preparation!

Well, thank you! It means a lot and I try my best. Bronze/Red is the hotness... I cant wait to see the car on the ground with the new 6ul bronze.

Oops. May have spoken out of turn. I’ve not delved into 1.5.x with engine states, yet.

Still, post a tune tune; and possibly a log; and I’ll take a look.

Stock fans at this time, yes?

No worries! Any help will be appreciated, and maybe others will chime in too. No stock fans, I have the FM stage 2 Spal kit which has not made idle tuning any easier.

When I get done with work I will post the tune and some of my concerns with it and then get some logs as soon as I get the car on the road.
