Wink 1992 Turbo Tin Can - As Shoddy As Possible

So I bought this car from a misguided soul on Bring A Trailer. I will attempt to turn it into a moderately respectable machine. It's pretty solid mechanically but many small details were overlooked and the exterior condition is... not great.
The car lives in Seattle, tucked away in the industrial district.

It's been modified a bit.

stock internals 1.6L
MSPNP2 w/ innovate wideband
Greddy turbo, manifold, downpipe(?) it's a little janky
Some sort of blowoff valve?
Big dumb koyo radiator
Flyin Miata Stage 2 clutch, poorly adjusted, squeaky throwout bearing
Old dirty rag heatshielding, premium
BEGi coolant reroute
KYB "adjustable" dampers with ground control kit and eibach springs @ 400/250
Hawk HP+ dusty brakes so you know they are working
Tons of weight reduction? Its just missing lots of parts
Hard Dog Double Dicking Hard Top
6pt harness, probably correctly installed
Kirkey 47 series seat actually properly mounted
A ton of redundant gauges that dont work

And thats where we are at. Plz find nudes below.

Is this the car I had posted a link to?

Isn't the owner a member here too?

So I started in on making the stupid things less stupid:
Installed catch can
removed baby teeth
Garagestar towhook
Garagestar security hardware
Better rollbar seatlbelt adapters
Removed a ton of trashed zipties and the sun-blasted rollbar padding
Cleaned a lot of things, Arizona dust and aids everywhere
swapped the headlamps out for weird chinese sealed LED lamps - I can see at night now! (ok so this makes it a little bit more stupid, whatever)

Things to do next:
reinstall some missing plastics
clean the trunk (degrease the **** out of it)
fix the turbo heat shielding
remove both seats, vacuum everything, re-bolt up the OE seatbelts properly, bash the trans tunnel more if necessary
figure out why these hawk(?) brake pads squeak so goddamn much
fill 'er up with delicious WA 92oct and datalog, pray too god its not running massively rich (haha yes it will be)

I'm still on here!

The Noble (its an M12 GTO 3R) is fun, but you can't drive it with the abandonment of the Miata without fears of doing something really stupid. Interestingly, the Noble and Miata are about the same weight.

I had a bunch of stuff on my list to do on the Miata, then ran into a windfall and thought the time and money was better spent on other projects. Such is life I guess!

^^ you werent kidding about the list of stuff to do. Every time I drive it, the list gets longer. Proper project car haaaaaaaa.

And yes, it resides at The Shop. I routinely make a fool of myself by letting it stall on cold starts.

Finally made it into The Shop for brunch today. Pretty cool place. After the initiation fee it is pretty reasonably priced for storage. I may have to look into it a little more as storage for my Miata.

Finding a deal where you can skip the initiation fee is best, some of the local clubs are getting limited no initiation offers (advants, seattle cars and coffee, group2 motorsports, etc)

So its been almost a year? Wow I suck at this now that Im old and have a small child. Quick updates here:
  • new starter
  • new battery
  • catch can removed again, I want a 323 valve cover and to remount the can in a not-stupid place
  • bought a lot of parts the car was missing
  • have driven the **** out of it, tires still holding up well
  • bought a new momo steering wheel, too lazy to install it. Also got a new helmet, hans, headsocks so now Im ready to crash it at the track.
  • ????????

Oh right, I have a decent excuse for not getting more things done on the miata, I went full retard and purchased a 1991 Eunos Cosmo 13b "Type-E". I bought it from a guy in the Chicagoland area, drove it all the way back home to Seattle in 4 days. Here's a few pics of the trip:
