I feel like I have been here. Good work everywhere here, this car is going to be mint!

Beginning the depower on the NB rack. Also made some bushing for it.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1450637443 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1450637443 AN adapter I'm working on so I can use AN lines for all the coolant lines through the heater core. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1450637443 |
I wanted to use the heater core as a source also when I had a bp4W but never was able to resolve feeding it back to the mixing manifold since I didn't have access to a swanky fab shop. I don't expect the restriction/downsizing through the turbo would impact much. It'd spend more time shedding heat out of the heater core which might make the turbo happier.
Sexy bushings on one side of the rack, but can you mill a solid mount for the passenger side? 11 years ago, I had a set of Rev-Lab aluminum brackets that completely replaced the bushing and oem rack bracket on my old swapped GC. More updates please. |
Restriction would make the car warm up slower

The cabin or the engine? Wouldn't it allow coolant to dwell a little longer before being transferred back to the pump? It might cause the thermostat open a little sooner no?

Yeah, your reasoning makes more sense.

I'm taking some time off this week and trying to get the rollerskate back together so I can merge it back with the body.
I got a lot of traction on Monday and reassembled the rear suspension. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1451499359 I also spent way more time than I'd like to admit trying to find an attractive location for the FPR to reside behind the intake manifold. I also started looking at how I was going to route the fuel lines and oil cooler lines. This is still being worked on. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1451499359 The differential and housing also got a fresh coat of paint. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1451499359 Tuesday started off strong with assembling the differential and attaching it to the rear sub-frame. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1451499359 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1451499359 After all that I was going to start on the front sub-assembly. I painted the front hubs Monday also and went to press in the ARP studs. These guys have a significant amount of interferance fit and it definitely take a shop press to get them together. After putting one together I noticed that the studs are a bit splayed and won't quite make it into the rotors.. In other news, I ordered the TSE 11.75" DynaPro BBK with the Singular ducts and new rear axles from Advance. Today I'm hopefully putting in the final order to Fab9 and MazdaSpeed. Still waiting on the Bauer front BJ's from FM. |

These were the standard Timken units from RockAuto. Is there another manufacturer you'd suggest? I'd hate to just scrap these.
The only blueprinted hubs I'm aware of are from FM and their $212/ea plus shipping. |

Working towards getting the rest of the drivetrain in the car in the coming weeks. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1451957717 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1451957717 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1451957717 |
TSE 11.75" DynaPro BBK arrived today! These should fair nicely with wilwood master delete kit.
Also recieved my order from Mazda comp earlier in the week with new camber bolts and the MSM rear sway bar. Pics to come. |

UPDATE THIS EPIC THING
|
I've gotten a bit further since the last update, but alas I've started a new full-time job and as some of you have noticed I've started a bit of a side business too. :)
I'll try to get this thing updated this weekend. |

Gonna get that thing together for "Miata's at Hallett"?
|
Do you have a link or part number for the long hose you're using on your Kia water neck?
|
This build is stupid... stupid awesome that is. Looking great. The port work is beautiful. I wish I had time to strip my new car down this far and redo everything.
|
This project kinda got back burner'd with the business ramping up a bit faster than expected.
I've been going through some personal things and also taken on a Jeep Cherokee (XJ) project that I'm trying to turn into my beater daily, but I should have a significant more time on my hands now. Once the Jeep project is road worthy again, I'll be able to devote time to the Miata again. Hopefully I can start getting things updated in the coming weeks/months. :bigtu: |
Dumb question.....
Those washers on the rear lower control arm bolt, where those always there or are they from the front? I don't recall installing these, nor did my car have them. |

OK. Should I be worried about that if I have the v8 roadster arms. I'm pretty sure I can scrounge up some fat washers somewhere
|
I have Delrins and I have run with and without them, but I think they are a good idea with poly bushings because they locate the non-press-fit bushings.

Those washers come with some (including ES) poly bushing kits. Stock bushings don't have them.
