cold starts are only bad when you don't have the settings dialed in right.
my car used to have god awful cold start til I finally got the settings right. now its not perfect (I'll still be ironing it out) but its nowhere near "BAD". |
block heater and extension cord will solve your cold start needs in the winter.

Nice build, but spend $75 somewhere besides different color couplers.
|
if it doesnt snow this week like they are calling for i will throw the 1000's in and give it a try. hopefully i will have the majority of the parts for the built motor in the next few weeks. plan is to have the motor built and in by mid january (dads a professional machinist, luckily).

curly: no money spent. i planned on switching them out for my roomates black couplers when he wasnt home haha.

Small update since I'm a lazy, cheap bastard. Pulled it apart this week to install a competition clutch stg.4. I have to wait to get the flywheel resurfaced monday. Installing the walbro 255 and pte 1000's at the same time. It will also be getting an exhaust built as soon as it is back on the ground. I will miss the open downpipe, sadly.

Any update to this party?

I beat on it every time I drive it. Slowly gathering parts to build the engine. 8lbs of holset fun has been keepin me plenty satisfied though. I love the way this turbo performs. The wastegate did fall off once. Apparently cheap bolts break after a few heat cycles...oops. I still need to install the stock rail i tapped for a barbed fitting to run an aeromotive fpr for the e85 stuff.

Prothane complete kit for the suspension. Might add a Rb hollow bar and Wilwoods. New wheels are Rota Grid, 15x9. 225/45 BFG Rivals should be here shortly. Autolonexion V2 flares and Trunk are the only real changes to the exterior. |
Impressive. However, going from a holset boosted BP to an NA KL you'll be losing power. Or did you keep the holset? :hustler:

Wow. This just got serious.

Throwing a turbo on the KL has crossed my mind already. There's plenty of room with this cross member
|
I thought that was a BP sitting on an angle, then I read.
|
I'm jelly of the kl miata but come on 3 years and your bumper emblem is still upside down?!
|
Well, this just went from awesome to aweseomer.
|
I'm hoping to have the engine mounted in the next few days. I'm a little irritated with it, as the adapter plate for the trans had several holes that didn't want to line up. Oh well, installing this Prothane kit should keep me occupied for a bit.
I'll fix that emblem one of these days. |
