So my local forum is basically dead and i wanted to continue a build thread somewhere so here it is.
Just a little background on my car. Iv had it since January 09. it lived life as a street car for a few years and in the last couple of years its become a Friday car/track car. T, what the heck happened to NCR? I moved and got super busy with house projects and by the time I got working on my track car again the forum was a ghost town. What gives?
Anyway, cool build. I didn't get a chance to say hi at Miatas at Laguna Seca. I'm going to try to get my MS2 in the car soon and get my turbo working properly so I can have fun at the track again. Hope to see you out there. |

I haven't seen too many pictures of a Wilwood 1 inch master installed. This is the good-win kit and i wish i did it a long time. One of my favorite recent mods paired with torque rt-700 fluid its almost like im driving an air cooled Porsche

Well im starting a new engine build. clearances will be tight so i needed too see what the valve overlap looked like.
i shortened up a timing belt and adapted a tensioner to the head so i could better watch how the valve move inside the head. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1456809829 |

What in the hell was going on with the dyno on the MCE rig?
Horsepower swinging back and forth by like 20WHP and AFR swinging back and forth from 12 to 14 above 5500 RPM? Everything looks nice and smooth on the dynapack. |

Never before done, and the seats are out. Looks like my friends head when he was convinced he could fit small block chevy valves in a tiburon head.
I've probably drank beer out of the aluminum made from that thing by now. |

Finally got around to cutting up some aluminum. ported roughly around the valve guide first, then put in the new guides and oversized seats.then a little more roughing. I know i am losing out on velocity with the big valves but then again this motor wont live below 4k or even 5k for that matter.

stuck the approximate sized valves ill be using in the head. these will probably get trimmed down .5mm each or so.

got my itbs all setup and running. headed to the dyno Tuesday for the disappointment.

Thanks for the pic of the Wilwood master. My kit from V8R came without any instructions, and even though it seemed pretty self-explanatory, I was scouring the internet for pictures of the lines so I didn't fuck something up. The line exiting from the top of the tee is the one running down to the front left caliper, correct?

Im still not finished developing my old motor! I put in a 264 inatake cam and raised the rev limit. This is untuned so i expect a few more once i get it tuned and hopefully i can pull some of the bottom end back up with the cam gears.

No this is on my "old motor" rather normal ported ports and +1mm valves. i simply did a baseline pull then dropped in an intake cam at the dyno and did a pull.
On the subject of my new motor the billet mains should be coming in tomorrow :) |

First things first was getting an intake manifold setup.

Intake manifold on and it should lead to an interesting cold side charge pipe.

Blowed up the headgasket
I was at Sonoma last week and during my last session I noticed the car tried to spin me out for no apparent reason. So, I slowed down after the carousel and saw my racepak alarm go off as my coolant temps were climbing. Must be a coolant leak I thought. Got to about 215 degrees and shut it down and had the track workers open my hood and look for a leak. They couldn’t seen anything but there was coolant down the side of my car finally got in an my coolant ant resivoir was full to the top. Clearly a lifted head or blown gasket. Replaced the coolant and drove it home no problem. Flash forward pull the head and cleary heat passed the fire ring and got into the coolant jackets. So a new non modified gasket went in with new studs. |
Some new revisions under the hood aswell. New intake setup and good side because everyone complained. Uhmm some things I skipped... lifted the head last season a hand full of times, figured out what Head studs to get.
Went to buttonwillow 2 weeks before super lap battle and was turning a 2 minute lap. Made Some suspension adjustments and went to slb. Took 4th In lrwd with a 1:54. interesting thing on track is we kept dropping tire pressure and adding rear wing. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...bab1ba056.jpeg With last year behind us I’ll catch up briefly for this year. after slb, found my Supertech intake valves wore out after 6 race hours and some dyno time. So this year, I pulled the head off once again, new custom valve guides. installed b18 ferrea intake valves with a f20 retainers/ keepers and dsm conical springs with a modified Supertech spring seat. Did a track day at thunder hill west and broke the exhaust yet again.

I also made a trade for a c30-94 that will go in the car very soon. Looking to put a restrictor in it to cap the boost. Figured out that once
you more than triple the power things will have issues Especially when you try to put the power down. all the aftermarket ruca have crappy designs one way or another. I also sent my intake manifold out to get cnc ported by vpm.
