Default Wannabe DIY MK Turbo Build Thread

If anyone remembers seeing my noob thread I came in here with a JRSC. Sold that to fund a DIYPNP from Brain and ran NA for a few months. I slowly started to gather parts and finally had the money to buy everything.

I'm a 21yr old college student and currently have two jobs for the summer and a GF so time is limited

My goal was to make the turbo with everything I learned from everyone elses chinacharger experience, like Underdog only going 2.5" exhaust instead of 3", shuiend welding the flex pipe onto the downpipe instead of after, porting the wastegate...etc

eBay decided to run out of tacotaco manifolds so i ended up making my own. I hadn't arc welded for a couple years prior to this. Turned out legit. eBay everything, BOV, intercooler, oil lines, fittings, exhaust wrap...etc

Currently just finishing up the exhaust and awaiting a new radiator and the tuning begins. Pictures don't really portray all of my work, alot more has been done.

Plan is to run 12-13psi on 91 and allofit on a low e85+pump gas mix and table switching

2.5" to 3" downpipe

Looks pretty good. Where did you get the 1.6 flange from? Also I do not see a flex pipe in your down pipe. Or it might be completely wrapped. I am interested in seeing what the 2.5" exhaust does for spool. I will have a 3" version of my setups out soon and it would be nice to compare.

I got the flange from Amazon. It looks incredibly similar to yours and the PRL motorsports one. I must have misread your post. I thought you moved the flex joint onto the second half of the exhaust to make the downpipe easier to get in and out. Only my downpipe is 2.5", if you look at the end out the downpipe you can see the expansion.

No I changed from 3" to 2.5" flex pipe to make it easier to get it in.

The 3" flexpipe went in easy on my NB. Just Jack the engine on the drivers side a bit. You may not like the wrap after a while from what I understand.

Otherwise looks good.
