But thank you for this and pushing some of us to think outside the box and giving us some excellent ideas. Amazing work!!!

Looks like you have plenty of room in that engine bay for a massive turbo!

If you're so worried about the brake fluid overheating, why not wrap the proportioning valve too? You're wasting heat-wrap btw. :)

I have my spreadsheet at work so this is a guess. Maybe 18 mani/downpipe combos and 6 manifold only's since I got my Tig 6 years ago. Of those 18 combos, maybe 10 were vband stuff?

Well the turbo is back-ordered! So will be here soon I hope. The transmission is the 2nd generation turbo (TII) and clutch will be a fidanza 7 1/4" with tilton dual disc.

The car is a road race car though. You can see the adapter plate in the picture.

Hope I am not high-jacking the thread!!!

I find it an absolute travesty that you don't do this for a living. Your fabrication is ridiculous. The car and engine bay look amazing.

HHammerly 04-03-2012 12:21 PM

It is a hangar for the IC or exhaust, clever will have to keep that in mind for the next installation.
I make my hangars that are welded to the exhaust from 3/8" stainless tubing and use conpression fitting cones to keep the ruber hangars from slipping out. https://picasaweb.google.com/m/viewe...16082606463794

Time to get this back on the first page!

I have some updates, but not many...

Here is the answer to the mystery part - its part of an "exhaust side movement restrictor system" that I came up with. Should keep the exhaust off the bumper!!

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335415031

Built an SS exhaust brace:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335415031
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335415031
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335415031
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335415031
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335415031
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335415031

Been working on the coolant reroute, had to make a few brackets to keep the hose away from the throttle linkage etc. The GM hose was definitely not a direct fit!

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335415031
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335415031

Welded up a fitting for the BOV:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335415031
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335415031

...and a splice for the lower radiator hose

Well, in a way I do, because I am a mechanical engineer working in new product development. Unfortunately I don't think doing this type of work on cars would be a lucrative endeavor.

But I appreciate the complement!

Oh yeah and it makes 14 psi at 3150 rpm, on a totally stock 1.8 and a GT2860RS, which I believe is pretty good...

BUT, because of the boost creep issues, I am going to try a .86 housing. If that works but kills my spool too much, I guess I will go to a 44mm gate and a shorter dump tube route.

18psi 06-04-2012 02:01 PM

Wow, torque under the curve must be phenomenal on this setup.

Start planning a built motor, those rods are on borrowed time.

Ian 06-04-2012 08:55 PM

I feel like the cheap Rota's kill the awesomeness of this car.

mx592 06-04-2012 09:10 PM

I feel like everyone with a Miata has 6ULs (not knocking them at all, they are sweet wheels, just saying) and these are about the only other 15x9 +36, and they are only 2 lbs heavier than the 6ULs (14.75). And I got the set of 4 for 500 shipped - about $300 cheaper than 6ULs.

vehicular 06-04-2012 10:04 PM

I wasn't going to say anything, but I agree that the bottom shelf wheels really detract from an otherwise very top shelf car.

240_to_miata 06-04-2012 10:09 PM

While I will agree rotas suck, I get a kick out of how die hard set on 6UL's this forum is.

Dont worry, your car is still awesome and will function very well even if you didnt give emilio your money to have the same wheels as every one on earth.

(dont get me wrong I give emilio tons of money and highly support his expertise and devotion to the miata crew...just bought xida's)

For the recrod, I run 15x8 +32 Kosei K1s on my car. I don't think I'd run another set of 6ULs, either, now that they're on every second Miata you see.

mx592 06-04-2012 11:03 PM

Well you can all die and go straight to hell!

I kid, I kid.

I spent all my wheel money on 19x10.5/9.5 SSR's for my G35. So the Miata gets Rota's LOL.

No need to explain, I got the TRMotorsports 15x9 for partially the same reason. The Rota's do stick out though on a car that is put together with so much thought and care. Just an observation, nothing more.

Offset? Price?

mx592 06-05-2012 12:58 PM

They are either +42 or +33, I am not sure which because it doesn't say anywhere on the wheels and the stickers on the barrels are long gone. I could try to measure them I guess.

The stickers that said "gram lights" are also long gone, they fell off and I tried to get new ones with no luck.

There is no curb rash, but the paint has been removed from the lips and lucky for me the lips were already polished underneath! The paint is flaking off the inside edge of the barrels a little, which you cant see at all when they are on the car.

NO curb rash or dents whatsoever.

Weight is actuall 15.4 lbs.

They currently have 205/45/16 RS2's mounted, the rears are probably at 15% and the fronts at about 30% (it was time to rotate them). They might last a couple thousand more miles, depending on use.

Curently located in Grand Rapids MI, but I would ship at buyers expense. $750 OBO plus shipping.
